Insights from Chapter 1
#1
I’ve always been restless, and I’ve never been content with my life. I’ve always felt like there was something else out there for me, and that has manifested in what I have today: a global business that makes life better for women.
Insights from Chapter 2
#1
When we stop trying to control everything and plan for every possible outcome, we make room for the unknown. When we don’t have overly thought-out expectations of what will happen, we make room for surprises and allow ourselves to journey into uncharted territory. This is where we find growth.
#2
Winging it is the act of trusting yourself and your abilities enough to try something new. It is not reckless behavior, and it is not a complete lack of skill. It is about not being so set in a plan that it prevents you from being led in different directions.
#3
I was a twenty-four-year-old workaholic at the time, and I was spending my days building my own recruitment agency. I was hooked and on the biggest high. I became a member and signed all my staff members up too.
#4
Entrepreneurship requires constant decision-making and action, and too many people wait for the right opportunity or idea to come along before they even start. You should instead actively seek out opportunities, and make decisions with only 70 percent of the key information available.
#5
When you know, you know. And when you don’t know, you decide. When you’re unqualified for a job, you have to find the courage to do it anyway. When you want something big to happen in your life, you need to stop waiting for permission and instead find a way to make it happen.
#6
Success is achieved through perpetual motion. It's about putting one foot in front of the other and keeping on walking, no matter what. You can have bad days and rest, but you can't stop. The secret is to build the discipline to find a tiny way to move the game forward each day.
#7
The questions you ask yourself can be extremely helpful in getting to know others. They allow you to introspect and decide what’s important and what’s not. They help you decide what you’d do if you knew you couldn’t fail.
#8
The goal is to run your day, not have the day run you. By setting it up from the start, and being clear about your intention, you’re more likely to be inspired to achieve all that’s on your list.
