INTRODUCTION
About Me
I’m a stay-at-home, work-from-home mother of a daughter. I’ve been selling clothing (among many others things) online for nearly 10 years through eBay, Amazon and Etsy. In addition to my webstores, I run a photography prop & costume rental business, the blog and website “Hustling From Home” and I co-own the facebook group “The Thrifting Lounge”. I maintain a full-time income on my eBay store alone and as of November 2014, I have had over 34,000 transactions and earned over 17,500 positive feedback.
My eBay Philosophy
My business model is the “slow dime”. I source great quality products, take clear photographs, create concise but informative listings, set high prices as fixed price with best offer and I list nearly all of my items as “good to cancelled”. I generally do not offer free shipping. I’ve got significant space for storage, so I’m able to exhibit patience and wait for top dollar on most of my items. I choose to set my prices high and implement the use of “best offer”. I utilize auto accept and auto decline for very high and low offers and I choose to moderate the gray area in between by reviewing the offers. For 75% of my items I charge shipping. I primarily employ fixed price or best offer for 98% of my listings , only running auctions to increase buyer traffic or to purge stale items. If you’d like additional information on my selling philosophy or you are interested in seeing my actual store, feel free to get a hold of me through my contact information at the end of this guide.

ABOUT THIS GUIDE
If you already have experience selling items online, specifically on eBay and you’re thinking about expanding your business to include clothing, then this is the guide for you. Simple and concise, this guide provides a list for sourcing both men’s and women’s apparel that sell well. Not all items or brands are created equally, nor are all items produced by a brand. Some items will sell for more than others, so you will still need to do your due diligence in properly researching items prior to pricing. Variables such as the purchase price of the piece, item condition, season of the year, listing & photography techniques, pricing practices, availability of items on international markets and seller feedback ratings will ultimately influence your ability to “flip” these items for a profit. But, consider this guide as an amazing start to sourcing the “right” brands in the overwhelmingly, plentiful sea of clothing that is available in thrift & department stores. And don’t limit yourself to just the thrift stores. This guide will help you make decisions when purchasing new apparel from department stores, boutiques or via wholesale as well.
Finally keep in mind that the clothing market is constantly changing. What’s “in” or highly sought after today, might be “out” tomorrow. You need to keep on top of your game, continuously educating yourself about what will or will not sell. During the very time it took you to review and learn this guide, the desirability of some of these items has fallen while for others it has risen. But as you become more familiar with how a quality product looks and feels, you’ll become more proficient at buying low and selling high.
