2 What is Red Hat Certified Engineer?
2.1 Overview
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) is a performance-based test that measures actual competency on live systems. Called the "crown jewel of Linux certifications," RHCE proves an individual's ability to configure networking services and security on servers running a Red Hat OS. RHCE was recently named the hottest certification in all of IT by CertCities.com.
2.1.1 What is the goal of RHCE Certification?
The primary goal of RHCE and RHCT certification is to meet the demand of individuals and employers for useful metrics of individual skills and competencies with Red Hat Linux, the largest-selling distribution of Linux. The RHCE Program provides performance-based certification at two critical job role levels: Technician (RHCT) and Engineer (RHCE).
2.2 The RHCE Exam
Becoming a Red Hat Certified Engineer requires passing a3.5 hourhands-on exam. There are four different approaches to preparing for the exam depending on your existing level of Linux expertise. These are the Standard Track, Rapid Track, Success Pack and Live Access Labs. To determine your level of expertise, you can take the pre-assessment questionnaire at https://www.redhat.com/apps/training/assess/.
There is no prerequisite for taking the exam, but it is recommended students have substantial real world system administration experience before making an attempt.
The RHCE exam is performance-based in two very specific and important senses. First, the actual performance of candidates is tested by requiring them to successfully complete installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks similar to those they must complete on the job as system Copyright The Art of Service Email:service@theartofservice.com│Web:http://theartofservice.comeLearning:http://theartofservice.org10
