6. I had the opportunity to work side by side with Ajay during the early part of our careers in the Fertilizer industry in India. Even at that time, I sensed some unique zeal in Ajay to positively contribute to society. Now I see that zeal culminating in the release of this book.
All the key factors that ensure success are well explained in simple English, the method that easily connects with people and enables reading chapter after chapter without taking a break. Whether it is about sustainability and global warming or financial basics to non-financial managers or for that matter every subject he touched on here is well explained lucidly. I am glad Ajay allowed me to read this manuscript, I feel privileged! I do not doubt in my mind, this book when it hits the stands will be the talk of current and future leaders across the globe!

Introduction
The purpose of writing this book is to distill some very useful tips to leaders and managers, so they take quantum leap in their leadership journey and run their organizations in such a way that employees feel connected and engaged and they achieve their business goals.
There is no dearth of management and leadership books around, so an obvious question could be what additional value this book provides to these upcoming managers and leaders. In this book, I have attempted to focus on some basic yet very useful lessons and tips based on my twenty-five-plus years of manufacturing leadership experience that I believe will empower managers and leaders. I had an opportunity to work with senior executives and floor employees in different industries. I stayed mindful of the cultures in these organizations, different leadership styles, knowledge, and tools that I felt young leaders and managers must have early in their careers, so they learn and apply this knowledge and help organizations become responsible, achieve great results, and build a culture where employees are engaged and motivated and thus make organizations stronger constantly. Some leaders and managers have business backgrounds, some have technical backgrounds, and some have both. Those who are managing manufacturing or technical businesses benefit from technical knowledge such as engineering. Managers from the business side without technical backgrounds have solid business backgrounds but lack technical knowledge. They can certainly still be very successful if they have a team of solid technical managers to assist them in understanding the technical side of the business. They also learn technical aspects of the business based on their own routine experience dealing with technical issues. Similarly, leaders and managers without business backgrounds learn business skills hands-on when they deal with issues and interact with those who have solid business backgrounds. Some of these people will go back to school full-time or part-time and earn their business degrees to further their careers. They certainly will have a better appreciation of the business aspects after gaining this additional academic knowledge of finance, marketing, sales, and human resources.
After graduating from a chemical engineering program in India, I decided to go back to business school to learn the business aspects of running an organization. I had worked for a few years by the time I went to business school. Business school education helped me tremendously, and I was able to relate to some of the business things our leaders would talk abou
