Description

Selling God's Way is the first book that explains how to apply the word of God to all aspects of selling. Most people never consider using the Bible as an instruction book for selling. Most people rely on their intellect or intuition to serve as the final authority regarding any decision that's sales or work related. But, if we sell God's way biblical principles lead and God becomes the final authority regarding all sales activity. This equips and empowers us to achieve supreme sales success. Now, we can ask God in prayer how to find prospects. We can trust the Lord to supply the energy needed to make sales calls. Through studying Scripture we'll find specific instructions for handling objections and closing sales. We can rely on faith to lead us in the best thing to say or do while selling. Throughout this book I use biblical scripture and stories to deliver instructions for selling successfully. Any wisdom that the Bible bestows stays the most useful and valuable forever. Why sell God's way? Most salespeople work independently, at times autonomously. How a salesperson behaves while interacting with a customer or potential customer is ultimately their responsibility. All salespeople need the option of operating within a set of principles and processes that incorporate righteousness. These principles and processes must also guide them to maximize their income and build the best possible business relationships. This book gives salespeople that option. Anyone using this book for those purposes should be extremely satisfied. But the primary reason I want sellers to choose God's way is directly related to accountability. In the Bible's second book of Corinthians it says we all have to appear before God one day and give an account for everything done. I want my account to reap heavenly rewards. I'm sure that's what we all want. It makes our reasons for Selling God's Way heavenly. (2Corinthians 5:10) 10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

INTRODUCTION

FAITH-HOPE-LOVE
1Corinthians 13:13 “13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

FAITH
Selling God’s way will lead you to best possible results and relationships, but it requires that you faithfully apply biblical wisdom. Whatever way you sell now expresses your faith. It reveals your god, what you rely on for significance, security, and success. Everyone has faith in something, if you turn on a water valve, you have faith that water will come out. When you hand over money to make a purchase, you have faith that your money will be taken. A person’s faith may be in several gods. The god of a person’s career may not be the same god of their social life. At one time, the god I served at work was not the same god I served at home. My god at work was a self-serving ambition, while my god at home was the Bible’s God. My work, which was selling advertising, included components of morality and righteousness rooted in biblical principles, but my actions were ultimately guided by a desire to accumulate cash and material possessions. I sought status and success through ways given to me by managers and experience. I neglected the ways of God, in spite of knowing that those time-tested ways contained the power to produce miracles.
I encourage everyone to examine his or her relationship between faith and selling. You may discover, as I did, that your faith while selling lies in some other source besides the Bible’s God. That source might be one thing or a combination of many things, such as your competitive nature or ability to learn. It could also be in a set of secular business principles, or another person such as a sales manager. However, if you believe in the Bible’s God, then your selling style should be a by-product of your commitment to live righteously, an expression of thanks to God for your personal salvation, and a reasonable act of service in light of God’s grace and mercy.
This book assists believers along the path of selling righteously by confirming insights, as it improves their information base. If you do not believe in the Bible’s God, or if you are not availing your faith in God while selling, then I beseech you to try selling God’s way. God promises to reward those who diligently seek Him.

HOPE
At an early age, I learned that an honest person does not intentionally state something false or inaccurate. And that omitting information also constitutes dishonesty. Therefore, when I began selling advertising, almost thirty years ago, my first thoughts were that this industry desperately needs an honest person, because I observed far too many advertising salespeople being dishonest by overstating benefits, manipulating research, and omitting information. My hope for honesty grew into a hunger for righteousness, as I observed salespeople across various industries using all types of sin to succeed. I also observed a pervasive atmosphere among companies that allowed salespeople to be treated unethically. For example, far too many salespeople were hired into positions that delivered less income, security, and upward mobility than what was communicated, if not promised, during an interview.
As I wrote this book, in the year 2010, much of the world mired in an elongated economic nightmare. Home sales suffered due to mortgage companies selling unethical financing. Auto sales decreased as the industry’s reputation for using deceit increased. Financial companies made news due to the millions lost by executives that tried to explain their enormous bonuses with nonsensical facts. Energy companies seemed to specialize in selling an inaccurate picture of their plight, as their profits rose into the billions. Seeing so many salespeople and companies incorporating sin to succeed grew more disheartening, as I grew older. I wondered if these people knew that they were sinning, whenever they used half-truths, and things forbidden by God in their sales process. I wondered if they knew that a sinful lifestyle damaged their relationships with customers. I surmised that many did not understand that any type of sinful lifestyle puts their relationship with God in jeopardy, perhaps constructing a path to Hell rather than Heaven.
The overwhelming presence of evilness in business led me to write this book in hopes that I could help salespeople and companies discard sin to embrace righteousness. Hope guided my hands to incorporate concepts in the book that could lead others to use “Selling God’s Way” for more than just extracting what’s needed to maximize revenue and relationships. The hope that wrote this book wants a greater use of the Bible, which is the world’s best book. For believers, I hope this book strengthens their relationship with God, as it increases the Holy Spirit’s power in their life. For non-believers, I hope this book will lead them to trust God, not only for success while selling, but for a far more important thing, which is the salvation of their souls.

LOVE
In the Bible’s book of Revelation, it includes liars and unbelievers on the list of people who go to Hell. In that group of liars and unbelievers could be a great number of salespeople. Many who, naively, took a path to Hell by including deceit and disbelief in their sales process. Deceit with not only with every untruth that was communicated, but also with every relevant fact that was not communicated and with every opinion presented as fact. Disbelief in not only the one true triune God, but disbelief also in His Word, manifested whenever a salesperson placed their faith in something other than God as their final authority and source of strength.
Most salespeople want to succeed righteously. However, life’s worries, the pursuit of riches, and the desire for pleasure, often strangle righteous inclinations. Satan also schemes, so that people follow him and forsake God. Far too many salespeople fall into sinful selling styles due to a demon or their own evil desires, especially during difficulties. But the good news is that God has provided a way for us all to achieve sales success righteously. In a way that leads to Heaven and not Hell, this book will help guide anyone in that way. God does not want any of us to end up in Hell, a fiery place of eternal suffering. God wants us to spend eternity in Heaven, a place where pain and tears no longer exist. God loves us so much that He sent Jesus, His only son, to die for our sins, so whoever beliefs in Him can live eternally in Heaven. All any of us has to do is belief and confess. Romans 10:9-10 states, “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Of course, evidence of this belief and confession should be changes in a person’s attitudes and actions.
For me this knowledge gave birth to a motivation to show my love for God by doing something to serve God. So love birth this book and motivated me to complete this project. I was one of those sinful sellers headed to Hell until God’s love saved me. My sins are so vast and varied that it would take another book to describe all the unrighteousness things I’ve done. I thank God for saving me from the punishment I deserve. All my sins, including my future transgressions, are forgiven. I belief in my heart and can confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I believe Jesus Christ suffered a horrific death on the cross for my sins, but was brought back to life by God. The Holy Spirit Jesus described now lives in me. Guiding and comforting me as I strive to live a
