What People are Saying A bout...
Collective Voices from the Vil lage
Today, more than ever, young women need encouraging and reassuring words of hope and guidance. Collective Voices from the Village: A Reflective Keepsake Journal for Young Women, is an intergenerational book written with eloquence and passion, together with spiritual truth as it galvanizes passionate voices from strong successful women to address experiences that are embedded with much needed life lessons. This book is about the notion of wisdom sharing. It allows the readers to think by using the power of stories, testimonials, reflections, all brought to together as opportunities to start life changing conversations.
Dr. Trudi Williams, a God-centered educator, mother, wife and community leader, brings women together through the pages of this book to provide young women with the knowledge that they can use to better understand who they are and where they are going. In times like these, we value words of wisdom from those who are compelled to share a piece of themselves in order to make others better. It takes the reader on a journey that is sure to inspire many young women to discover the freedom and joy that comes from life lessons.
Collective Voices from the Village, is authentic, heartwarming and is a book every mother should want their daughter to read. It serves as a tool for all of us as we continue to move toward that which God has ordained for our lives. The author reminds us that by putting God first, all things are possible.
I am grateful these powerful women had the courage to share their reflections with the world through the chapters of this book. As you read it, you will be uplifted, illuminated, and enlightened. It serves to help us take one step closer to the destiny that God has for our lives.
Penny Brown Reynolds, Ph.D., Minister, Judge, Author, Motivational Speaker, Professor
Dr. Trudi Williams is a gem; a Pearl of our community.
One of my earliest memories is coming into her college class at Clark Atlanta University, and presenting my ‘Empowering Our Youth’ seminar. She was extremely supportive, and a guiding light in my earliest years in Atlanta with my service in youth development.
My ‘Empowering Our Youth’ seminar went on to become ‘A Lady Named Pearl Leadership Academy,’ which is an award winning program with a mission to shape the confidence of girls and women to become future leaders through modeling, leadership and entrepreneurship training.
“I want to thank you Dr. Williams for uplifting me on my journey, and uplifting other women in their work, while performing your calling.”
The community is very blessed to have a mother, educator and community advocate named Dr. Williams. Her character of love and support is what every girl needs.
To all my young women, don’t be afraid to dream …. and go after your dreams!
Watch your thoughts, they are powerful. Write them down in this journal and evaluate them.

I am so excited for young women of our time to have the opportunity to learn from and with Dr. Trudi Williams . I worked with Dr. Williams for several years with the Anti- Prejudice Consortium. She served as the Program Director and wrote curriculum for the Power Over Prejudice Program. This workshop invited middle school students to come together from all areas of metro Atlanta to discuss diversity and discrimination and how they can become catalysts of change in their schools in the areas of discrimination and hate. Dr Williams’ passion for young people and her impact on educating students on the importance of embracing differences and respecting other people’s differences made a large impact on the middle school community in the metro Atlanta area.
To quote Albert Einstein, “We must not only learn to tolerate our differences. We must welcome them as the richness and diversity which can lead to true intelligence.” Dr Trudi Williams has spent much of her life investing in young people and teaching them to embrace diversity which has helped our society become more inclusive.

I dedicate this book to my devoted mother,
Chanie Mae Snordon (1922-1996), my dear aunt, Leonia Lyle (1928-2020), and supportive sister, Eunice LaVerne Parker- Weatherspoon (1941-2015), who provided so much wisdom to me over the years. Even though they have left this earthy place, their legacies continue to live through me.
To the amazing women (past and present) who contributed to this book, I appreciate you providing inspiration and encouragement to a younger generation of emerging leaders, innovators, and trailblazers. Your example of love, hope, resilience, good character, and excellence is empowering young women like my daughter, Chantel, to learn and grow how to be their very best.

Foreword
It is a pleasure and an honor to write the foreword for Collective Voices from the Village: A Reflective Keepsake Journal for Young Women for my middle school counselor, Dr. Trudi Williams. I truly believe that the people who come in and out of our lives will always determine how we move about the world.
I am grateful to have met Dr. Trudi Williams during my youth; she indelibly nurtured me in so many wonderful ways. She has demonstrated unconditional love and support for me for over 20 years, and I consider her very much a member of my own vil lage.
From sixth grade to eighth grade, she believed in me, motivated me, kept me grounded and encouraged me through opportunities. She instilled lessons on discernment . The most beautiful thing is she permitted me to be myself. From high school to college, she steadily kept up with my academic progress and was active in aiding me with recommendations and applications or post-secondary options.
I cannot say enough about how thankful I am for Dr. Williams’ presence in my life, interest in my future, and for galvanizing this black girl’s dreams. Without her, my youth could have gone in a different direction.
Dr. Williams is an inspirational sage and I hope that you are excited as I am about reading her new book , Collective Voices from the Village: A Reflective Keep
