Looking deeper, really opening yourself up with these Affirmations on a daily basis, awakens you to a higher state of consciousness. The connection we all share, to who and what we truly are, brings you a sense of profound peace and joy. It is the opportunity to bring a positive focus in a world that is in such need of Love. This book guides you deeper into self, into all things around you and expands your view of reality. No end.. only transformation.

“The most fitting description I can give to Just for Today - Affirmations for Becoming a Good Human is “excellence for the soul”. Each affirmation is a testament to the author’s life, and a nod to his profound wisdom. Richard D. Rowland’s words are not only well crafted, but are laced with a wealth of sincerity and a look into the author’s heart and mind. As I read the daily affirmations, I savored them, as well you should, for they are each bursting with beautiful insights into how we, as humans, can elevate our souls while bringing more compassion and brightness to this world. It is a collection to be treasured and read again and again.”
~ Tina Jordan, author of Casualties of a Resolute Heart.
Can you hear the Unspoken Messages ? Have you had A Glimpse Behind the Veil ? Richard D. Rowland has and more in these two fantastic books. Now, in his final offering that comes after he has left this plane, Richard has graciously extended an invitation yet again. In Just for Today, Affirmations for Becoming a Good Human , he distills his wisdom into daily celebrations of what is possible. The love, compassion and generosity he bestowed on so many pours out in the most simple and beautiful forms. If we can all take this in and come from this place, even just a bit, this world will be better. I am better for knowing Richard and I extend this invitation on his behalf. I know he is smiling and nodding right now.
~Michael Overlie, author of Let Your Dog Lead
This book could be titled, The Ballad of Thirty Thousand Years, as Richard Rowland brings about a deep thought that follows the human experience through its formation, and then sharpens the pen to the focused philosophy of using the wisdom the only way it can be effective, each day in focus, and in time. The Circle of Life has certainly been professed by many, but in his final book, Just for Today , Richard Rowland combines all of his negatives into the material gift that we can use individually to build our own nests.
Thank you, Richard!

Foreword
They say time heals all wounds. I have also been told it gets easier each day. I’m still waiting. I suppose grief is an individual journey; it’s different for everyone. While I stumble through this journey, one I did not ask to take, I am occupying my mind with projects. This book was one of those projects.
My husband, Richard, was a solider. Not just in Vietnam, but throughout his whole life. He fought a long battle with cancer, fourteen plus years to be exact, but sadly succumbed to complications in December of 2022. My life will never be the same.
For those of you who are not familiar with Richard’s previous work then you do not know his story. He was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer in 2008 and was given three years to live. This spurred a complete life remake. He went from being a black and white minded person to someone who realized there was a lot of grey area that needed attention too. He embraced alternatives, became very spiritual, and eventually learned to find a balance between Eastern and Western medicine. Richard beat the odds and thumbed his nose at those who told him to get his affairs in order all those years ago. I honestly believe that his stubborn attitude and hard headedness is what gave him the strength and courage to continue on when most would have given up.
All of these events stimulated him to become an author and motivation speaker. Additionally, he mentored other members of his ‘tribe’ as he called them – other people stricken with cancer. Richard gave them hope and the tools to use to keep a positive attitude which is much needed with such a diagnosis. Even towards the end, as tired as he was, he was still helping others. That’s just the kind of person he was.
I am sure Richard had no idea just how many people he touched. For weeks after his passing, I received messages from people all over the world relating their stories to me about him. About how he helped them, and how much he would be missed. It made me feel so proud, that this humble country boy from Kentucky, who affected so many lives, was my husband. I knew then I had to get busy and get these quotes available to them.
Richard had this book essentially finished. The quotes were written, and Alison had all but two of the illustrations done; it just needed to be put together. Some of his quotes were written on post-it notes, others I found in the console of his truck. I managed to find the file on his computer where he had started assembling it. That’s when I contacted Balboa Press and told them what I wanted to do. I had no idea how to go about it or what I was doing but somehow, I mustered through.
I want to thank all the kind people who pre-read the manuscript and wrote such touching reviews. I know Richard is honored that you took time to do this. You all had special relationships with him, whether it be through past careers in law enforcement, horses and other animals, or related health issues, he thought highly of all of you. I would also like to thank Alison Holt for her beautiful artwork; I apologize for being particular on a couple details. Additionally, Rob Tollan, who is the voice on Richard’s previous books made into audiobooks. I look forward to working with you on this project as well.
Richard and I had twenty-two years together; not nearly long enough. He used to joke that when I married him, I signed up for forty, then after that we could renegotiate. Right now, I’d be happy to get just one more day.
As I sat with Richard in the hospital, holding his hand, I made a promise that I would finish this project for him. I keep my promises, and so, here it is. I have such a feeling of accomplishment and pride, not just that I completed his project, but of his words. Please enjoy this compilation. His last works. And learn from his wisdom.
Richard, I hope you are proud, baby.

A Message from Richard Matthew Rowland
The stories I have from my childhood involving my dad are so numerous and many that it could sufficiently fill several volumes, if I could recall all of them, that is. The other day I was folding my sheets and towels and had to stop momentarily. A deep memory that I thought had been long forgotten bubbled its way to the surface. A memory that I didn’t know existed any longer.
You see, when I was a small child I idolized my father. In many ways I still do
