Description

"The one thing in life you must never forget ... there is only one truth."

I've made the realization that the person I was is not who I am today. More importantly, the person I am today is not the person I will become.

Life Lessons, The Journey is a different kind of book than most of you are used to reading. I wanted to be able to offer insight and hope to those most in need. I also wanted to be able to deliver messages in the form of a passage; and last but not least I wanted to talk about it as if we were across from each other at the kitchen table.

If this book lets just one person sleep well tonight, I can say job well done. If the thoughts and ideas presented can help others to no longer live in pain, this book will be a "best seller" even if only two copies were sold. If I can help one person not lose faith in his or her darkest moments, it was by the grace of God, not by my pen.

Thank God for this opportunity and thank you for taking the time to read this book.

Introduction

This book has been a decade long project. I’ve started and stopped more times than I care to admit. Not because it was difficult to write, but every time I thought I had words of wisdom to offer, another situation came forward and proved to me how little I really know.

I’ve made the realization that the person I was is not who I am today. More importantly, the person I am today is not the person I will become.

Life Lessons, The Journey is a different kind of book than most of you are used to reading. I wanted to be able to offer insight and hope to those most in need. How loud does someone have to scream before you stop and listen?

Frightening question, or is it? Have you walked through the parking lot of a shopping plaza and heard a car alarm in the distance? It's become all so common. Most of us don't even turn around to see where it's coming from or what the problem might be. More than likely, a false alarm ... right?

Life is really quite simple. Not often do the rules of nature change. It could be a car alarm in a shopping center parking lot, or a person threatening suicide or someone you see everyday with a drug or alcohol problem. All cries for help.

The hardest of all, for me, are those that don't have a voice others can hear. Children who go to bed hungry every night, never knowing the feeling of a warm bath or being tucked into a bed of freshly washed linens. Or to be kissed on the forehead by a person they love and trust as they hear the softly spoken words ... “Sweet dreams.”

How loud does someone have to scream before we stop, listen and react? How many times do we have to hear the screams of pain, of hunger, of hopelessness before we realize the cries we hear are meant for our ears and not for someone else?

Life Lessons, The Journey was written to help those that have lost their way during one of the most challenging times they've ever seen. To teach the healing power of faith is one of the most important gifts we can share. He will show you how to teach others. How the power of faith is everything, but first you need to listen. Please, I beg of you to listen ... God doesn't scream.

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four years old child, whose next door neighbor, an elderly gentleman, who had recently lost his wife.

The little boy went into the older gentleman’s yard and climbed onto his lap and just sat there.

When his mother asked what he said to his neighbor, the little boy said, “Nothing. I just helped him cry.”

It’s Just A Dash

Our journey in life is brief. Answers we once found elusive now unfold in prayer.

At every sunrise we’re given another chance to find peace within ... and with God.

Our lives are all recorded in the same book, all the same way.

A date of birth ... and a date of death, with a "dash" separating the two.

The "dash.”

A mere little line that holds a record of every minute of every day of our lives.

Everyone we've loved ... everyone we've touched.

A record of our deeds ... the good and the bad.

And all of which we did while hanging on by a slender thread ... called faith.

Future generations may one day speak our names; they may also speak of our "dash.”

Our complete life story, all in one little line. How could it be just a dash?

God Speed.

“When you know better you’ll do better”

Dr. Maya Angelou

This has been Oprah Winfrey’s mantra for a great part of her life. Her love and respect for Dr. Angelou and this all powerful quote has allowed her to transform her life from a pregnant 14 years old girl to a person who has changed the lives of thousands.

Would or could she have attained the power to help? So many had she not found Maya Angelou? Possibly. It only goes to prove the power of the spoken word when combined with unconditional love knows no boundaries.

Who are you going to inspire?

The most important person in your life is the person who makes sure your journey is safe and trouble free.

Whoever this person is in your life, tell him or her, ”Thank you.” But first thank God for sending him or her to you.

Do it now!

Show Me Your Friends

A Preacher without a congregation. He stands high on the top of a mountain and waits. His words tell the secrets of life itself. With a gesture of his hand, the souls of millions would be saved. But no one came to hear the Preacher speak. Not a solitary soul.

A child innocently plays with friends as he did so many times before. Then in a blink of an eye, the life of this little boy ends. At that exact moment the lives of thousands also ended. It was this child that would one day find the cure for cancer. A single bullet, delivered with prejudice, propelled by ignorance and accepted as “just the way it is.”

A tiny, little girl that would one day harvest the oceans of the world. In the heat of a summer’s night, she silently drifts off into an endless sleep. The world she could have one day fed could not supply enough food for her survival. She asked for so very little. She received even less. Forgotten by most and respected by none. The next morning she was found curled in a ball with a faint smile on her face. I pray that her last dream was that of feeding the world. Will you pray too?

How easy it must be to find comfort in the believing someone else will take care of this or so many other problems. After all we are a society of like-minded individuals. Kindred spirits of sorts ... kindred spirits.

I’ve said it before. On this day I do so with such distain. “Show me your friends, your kindred spirits. I’ll show you your future.”

I pray the child not saved. The child without hope. The child without a cure. I pray this was not your child. But sadly, I know this was someone’s child. In my heart of hearts I realize that I did not pray as hard for this child as I would have prayed for your child. I hope God forgives me.

I pray your son enjoys good health and will forever stand strong and proud and that you enjoy the fruits of the lessons you taught him over the years. I know you will be as proud of him as he is of you.

The day will come when he asks about the second coming of Christ. What will you say? Will you tell him he stood on top of a mountain at the edge of a cliff? Will you tell him that he stood with his heart filled with love, his arms open, willing to share the true meaning of life?

If he asks what it was like to be in the presence of the Lord, what may I ask will you tell him? Will you tell him no one came to listen to his words? The truth, I hope. Remember there is only one truth.

Will you find the strength to look into his eyes and tell him that you were not there to witness the second coming? And when he realizes the one person that he held above all others, the only person he loved more than life itself, was not worthy of his trust. How may I ask will you respond? What words will right this wrong? Again I pray.

One last time, I will say, “Show me your friends, your kindred spirits and I’ll show you your future.”

Boca Grande Bound

When you've lived with a psychic and medium for over 30 years you come to expect "listening to messages" as a norm. I guess over the years your own “gifts” seem to sharpen with time. This is a story about one of those times I was so glad to have "listened to a message."

Our lives have always revolved around the water and boating. We had recently purchased our first yacht, not a big yacht but a seaworthy one nonetheless. We couldn‘t afford to buy new. The one we bought was five years old and as with any old boat comes with repairs. We recently had to replace an engine, a costly repair to say the least. It did allow us a new piece of mind we had not had before, that alone was going to make this trip a great trip.

Our favorite place to relax and unwind is Boca Grande on Florida's west coast. We‘ve been going there for years. It's about
