A BOUT THE A UTHOR

K evin D. Randle has studied the UFO phenomena in all its various incarnations for more than forty years. Training with the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot, intelligence officer, and military policeman, and with the U.S. Air Force as both an intelligence officer and a public affairs officer, provided Randle with a keen insight into the operations and protocols of the military, their investigations into UFOs, and into a phenomenon that has puzzled people for more than a century. He retired from the army and the Iowa National Guard as a lieutenant colonel in 2009.
Randle’s educational background is as diverse as his military experience. As an undergraduate at the University of Iowa, he studied anthropology. Graduate work included journalism, psychology, and military science at the University of Iowa, California Coast University, and the American Military University. He has both a master’s degree and a doctorate in psychology, as well as a second master’s degree in the art of military science.
During his investigations, Randle has traveled the United States to interview hundreds of witnesses who were involved in everything from the Roswell, New Mexico, crash of 1947 to the repeated radar sightings of UFOs over Washington, D.C., in 1952 to the latest of the abduction cases. He was among the first writers to review the declassified Project Blue Book files, and to report on animal mutilations, alien abductions and home invasions, and to suggest that humans are working with the aliens.
Randle has published many books about UFOs, including The UFO Casebook, Crash: When UFOs Fall from the Sky, and Reflections of a UFO Investigator. He hosts the blog www.KevinRandle.blogspot.com .

T his book would not have been possible without the help of the librarians at the Library of the Chathams, part of the Morris County, New Jersey, library system. I NTRODUCTION
T he dictionary definition of a conspiracy is two or more acting in concert with either an evil or criminal intent.
In the modern world, the idea of a conspiracy has expanded beyond the traditional and legal definitions. Today, it can mean the government acting to keep national secrets, to hide information that it would find detrimental to the operations of various departments, or to keep the public in the dark about what some of those working for the government know. In other words, the government is involved with many conspiracies from who shot President John Kennedy to the idea that no one ever landed on the moon.
To take this a step further, it might be said that some of those involved in UFO research are also involved in conspiracies to hide the truth. It might be a continued to support of the Majestic-Twelve, or the Allende Letters, or any of the faked photographs that have been published as the real thing. It might be said that a conspiracy exists to push out information to convince others that alien creatures have visited Earth.
Or, it might be said that the government, along with debunkers, have conspired to keep the best information from the public. Was the Condon Committee, the "scientific" study of UFOs at the University of Colorado in the late 1960s, a conspiracy to hide the truth about UFOs?
In other words, there are conspiracies all over the world regarding the UFO phenomenon. Some are government-sanctioned, some are government-sponsored, and more than a few can be laid at the feet of UFO witnesses and UFO investigators. It is a world that is confusing, obscure, and hidden, overshadowing the serious research.
Now is the time to try to untangle some of this. We have access to information that had long been hidden. We have confessions by those who were involved in some of those conspiracies. We have new science that helps us untangle some of the knots that fooled us in the past. We have what we need to understand much of what has happened in the last half century if we are smart enough to see it.
Here is the latest information, provided by many of those who were involved from the very beginning. Here are their words, telling us what they observed, what they did, and why they did it. Here, finally, is an opportunity to remove some of the conspiracy notions from the world of the UFO, to understand how other rumors began, and to sort it all out so that we can understand what happened.
Now, with inside sources, with new information, and with candid interviews, some of
