#2

Your body needs energy to function. It obtains this energy by taking sunlight and turning it into carbohydrates, which it then uses to fuel the different reactions within your body.

#3

Your body needs oxygen to break down the foods you eat and turn them into energy. Your body will then store that energy for a time when it needs it to perform a function or activity, allowing you to do so without any problems.

#4

When you breathe in, you take in oxygen that will then be diffused into the cells of your body for them to create energy. At the same time, carbon dioxide will be exchanged for that oxygen, eliminating the byproduct of the energy your body produced.

#5

The respiratory system is made up of a conduction zone, which is responsible for bringing in air from your external environment and transporting it into your lungs through various air traveling tubes. The conduction zone also warms the air before it enters your body.
Insights from Chapter 2

#1

The impact of just one deep breath on your body is tremendous, and the best part is that this great feeling will carry over into every aspect of your body. When you can start breathing correctly, your life will be improved.

#2

The diaphragm is in charge of filling your lungs with air. It does this by acting as a vacuum, sucking in as much air as it can through your respiratory system. The accessory breathing muscles are the ones that help you breathe when you are stressed.

#3

The fact that most people are breathing with their accessory muscles makes sense. People are simply not moving anywhere near as much as they should be on a daily basis. The stress that most people deal with is not physical, but psychological.

#4

If you constantly use your breathing accessory muscles to do all of your breathing, you are sending a signal to your body to constantly elicit a stress response. Over time, this will lead to poor posture, as well as some horrible effects on your normal body functions.

#5

Focus on your breath to reduce stress, improve your sex life, and much more.
