#1

The struggle to fit in and embrace society's definition of what is right and successful is really about energy. The way we feel about ourselves, the rules and values of society, and the way we react to life are all dictated by our own energy field and the bigger collective energy field.

#2

The more you learn about yourself, the more freedom you will have to create a life that is in tune with what's right for you. So let's start by taking a tour of your Human Design chart.

#3

Human Design is a new and unique tool that helps people in a new and unique way. It is important to realize that when you look at parts of the chart, they are simply pieces. To make learning about Human Design easier, we must first take the chart apart and cover each piece by one.

#4

The chart is a synthesis of several parts that work together to give an overview of each individual. Each part is important, but the full expression of each part depends on what else is in your chart.

#5

The nine geometric shapes represent the nine centers, and their role is similar to the seven chakras. Each center is responsible for carrying and managing a certain frequency of energy, and it relates to a specific theme in our lives.

#6

Centers are colored in, and they represent the energy that you radiate out into the world consistently. They are the aspects of your personality that are true all of the time, regardless of any other factors in your environment.

#7

Centers that are open take in and amplify energy and information from their environment. They are difficult to define, because they change depending on who you are with. They can also feel more intense than defined energy, because it comes in waves and is always changing.

#8

There are four centers on the body graph which are considered to be the motors: the Sacral Center, the Will Center, the Root Center, and the Emotional Solar Plexus. Motors help define the kind of energy you have.

#9

There are two pressure centers: the Head Center and the Root Center. The configuration of the pressure centers in a chart helps you understand what kind of pressure you might be experiencing in your life and gives you new ways to work with the pressure so you can reduce stress and make more relaxed choices.

#10

The defined and undefined centers are the beauty in the fact that we are all parts of a greater whole. We become completely defined when we are together. We each bring pieces that energetically unify us all, and we can express all of the human experience when we are together.

#11

The nine centers are connected to one another through many lines called channels. The color of the channel tells you about an aspect of your personality: black channels carry personality traits that you are consciously aware of, red channels carry personality traits that you are not consciously aware of, and checkered channels represent those particular personality aspects that are in your conscious and unconscious definition.

#12

The I Ching consists of sixty-four hexagrams, and each corresponds to a different gate in your chart. Each defined gate in your chart adds a different flavor to your personality.

#13

The chart defines the colored-in channels between centers. Single definition means all of the centers that are colored in or defined in the chart are connected. Split definition means there are two distinct groups of energy centers that are connected within the group but are not connected to each other.

#14

Your unconscious personality is defined by the red elements on your birth chart. These are aspects of your personality that are consistent but unconscious, meaning you don’t have much control over them.

#15

The twelve profiles are combinations of two gate lines: the conscious line followed by the unconscious line. They illustrate how your personality interacts with the world as you move toward fulfilling your purpose.

#16

The Incarnation Cross is made up of the four energies that make up your sun and earth signs, and it tells us who you are, what you're driven to do, and your destiny if you choose. It is a deeper explanation of the path of a soul and the journey of a lifetime.

#17

Your strategy comes from your type, and it is the most important knowledge offered by your Human Design chart. It helps you make the right choices for you, and it allows you to recognize when you are on the right path.

#18

There are six kinds of authority: generated, splenic, emotional, ego, self-projected, and mental. Some types of authority have a strong influence on the chart, while others are more subtle and do not require any changes to how you live your life.

#19

Each Human Design type has an emotional theme. The emotional theme is a part of a person's life, and it brings lessons and opportunities for growth. When you experience your emotional theme in a strong way, it's usually a sign that you aren’t living true to yourself.
Insights from Chapter 2

#1

The parts of your Human Design chart are important in and of themselves, and understanding them helps you put together a bigger picture of who you are. The real story of who you are is revealed when all the pieces come together.

#2

Human Design is a complex system, but it can be used to discover your true self. To do this, you must first know your energy type, which is the subject of chapter 2. Then, you simply follow your unique strategy.

#3

The easiest way to learn about yourself and your potential is through your Human Design type. It shows you how to create in a way that is empowering, fulfilling, dynamic, successful, and exciting.

#4

A motor connected to the Throat Center gives a person energy to start things, such as conversations or businesses, without waiting. A Manifestor is constantly manifesting in their mind. They can initiate action, and they don’t necessarily need others to make things happen.

#5

The Manifestor’s strategy is to inform others of their actions. However, not everyone will appreciate the information that a Manifestor provides, and they may feel controlled or manipulated by their impact field.

#6

Manifesters need breaks and time to discharge excess energy. This can make them look like slackers and loners, but the need to retreat and rest is vital for their health. They will sleep better and feel better if they get a chance to renew their energy.

#7

The Manifestor child poses a challenge for parents. They are designed to survive challenges and be self-directed, but they may grow up learning that they have to shut down their power or be punished for it.

#8

Generators have a powerful source of energy available, and they are the only type designed to work.
