About Pam
Pam Harrelson has been certified by the American Council on Exercise as a Personal Trainer since 1997 with dozens of educational units in physical therapy, weight lifting, cardiovascular , working with weight loss and lean body mass gain. In 2002 she qualified with IDEA organization to be listed as an ADVANCED TRAINER. This required a long list of things on her resume and jumping through many hoops!
She is 69 years old now and feels that this is an important pamphlet to help aging or hurt people find the correct trainer.
In her younger days, Pam was also certified by Cooper Institute and Apex as a Nutrition Coach, under the strict umbrella of Registered Dieticians. She worked for 10 years at large athletic clubs and for 10 years as a free- lance trainer while she helped with 5 grandkids in a row!
After training clients at home for a long time, Pam is back to work part time at a large athletic club in Hammond, LA, North Cypress Fitness. She still has a great gym at home and will take a client there unless they are a member at North Cypress, which would be a conflict of interest.
Pam relies on position statements and position stands from large scientific bodies such as USDA Dietary Guidelines, American College of Sports Medicine, and American Dietetic Association. These position stands are in the public domain.
Pam has counseled or trained approximately 2,000 clients over the course of 23 years. She was a full time trainer for 10 years.
Neal Spruce, PhD, author of Apex Training Manuel for trainers, has been quoted in this helpful pamphlet.
She was trained under his team again a second time in Oregon where she worked at 24 Hour Fitness as an Apex trainer and at Gold ’ s Gym where she was flattered to be hired there! This was great academic training from a highly degreed competitive body builder!
Pam ’ s Memories! Time Flies!
