The Biblical Counseling Guide for Women Endorsements
The Biblical Counseling Guide for Women is a well-written, well-documented book. Dr. Street and his wife Janie have done a tremendous work for those desiring to counsel others. Each chapter is grounded in the Word of God, which is sufficient and authoritative. They also do a great job of explaining medical terms along with contrasting biblical terms with psychologized terms. An added bonus is the thought-provoking questions at the end of each chapter. This book is a must for every biblical counselor and a great help for training those who desire to counsel biblically. I look forward to having it as a resource!

The Streets have written a very important book that will benefit those who counsel. Two unique aspects of this book: the amount of Scripture given for each challenging issue, and the case study format to which both counselors and counselees can relate. Helpful lists and descriptions are woven into the text. This book is a valuable resource for the Christian community.

The Biblical Counseling Guide for Women is a most valuable resource for women counselors. Written in a counseling-case format, it lends a good picture of the sufficiency of God s Word and how to specifically apply it in a relative manner. The cases that the Streets unfold address some critical issues that women face today. They have taken a bold step to create biblical discussion around them.

This is an important book that is enjoyable to read about a woman s faith and her God. Each engaging narrative discusses different kinds of personal struggles we women face, isolating the underlying core issue in our hearts along with the corresponding wisdom and insight from God s Word. This targeted truth enables every woman to know and trust her Savior and Lord in greater ways as well as build a bridge from the perception of arresting helplessness to sanctifying purposefulness. The result is pure joy and worship-enlarging faith as we repeatedly see our Creator, Savior, and Sustaining God as our loving Helper! Along with the Bible it will amply supply any Christian woman with a volume of material for personal worship time, parenting or discipleship relationship, or counseling opportunity. I guarantee it will ignite a well-worn path to the cross for all who bend its covers.

John and Janie Street have filled this book with wise counsel. They tackle hard subjects and give light where there is often darkness. I would encourage every woman who counsels to get a copy.

The characters in each chapter are fictitious yet represent a composite of many actual counselees. The story lines are not written to present the account of any one particular person. If some of the details of a chapter remind you of a situation with which you are familiar, this is purely coincidental.
Because the counseling scenarios in this book are composites, the actual specifics you find necessary for addressing individual counselees may vary depending on the factors involved in their cases.

Acknowledgments
There is a deep sense of gratitude we have to our Lord Jesus Christ for His sustaining grace over a two-year period as this book was being produced. We are grateful to our son, Jay Street, who did a significant amount of background research for each chapter while pursuing a Master s of Theology degree (ThM) and facing some physical challenges of his own. Then there was a time when all writing stopped. Janie was diagnosed with cancer, had surgery, and was eventually declared to be cancer-free. This has truly been a family effort: Jay doing the background research, myself writing the chapters, and my wife functioning as an editor. For months we have told her that she is the one who has helped to feminize each chapter.
We are also grateful for the unusually rich experience in supervising counselors seeking certification through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC), as well as opportunities to teach so many wonderful graduate students at The Master s University and Seminary. In many ways it is because of the sharpening interaction with these counselors and students that these chapters contain the practical help they do.
Finally, we are grateful to Harvest House Publishers and their willingness to publish this book. We want to especially thank Bob Hawkins and Steve Miller for their patience as we have encountered delays due to the challenges mentioned above. They have been a joy to work with.

Foreword
Have you ever had a problem you could not solve? Or a friend whom you could not help? In this book, John and Janie Street have made it abundantly clear that there is great hope no matter the kinds of problems women struggle with. They have laid out clear, biblical plans of action for issues that women face today. And through compelling stories, they have shown how women can help women to respond so that by the grace of God and obedience to His Word, they can help others to turn from the misery they find themselves in.
God s Word is living and active and sufficient to help us in times of need (Hebrews 4:12, 16). He has, in fact, granted to us all things pertaining to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). There is no need to embrace man-made ideas about what will help someone stuck in the midst of difficult emotional problems. Our Lord Jesus expressed it this way when He prayed to the Father in John 17: Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth (John 17:17).
This book points you to God s truth. It is full of hope and practical biblical guidance. My prayer is that God will use this book to bless those who read it
