After After Raising SUGAR CANE BOOK-III is a continual autobiography of the life of Barry Franklin Anthony Raffray. This book starts in 1994 and goes to 2010. My first three sons are grown and I will now have two more boys to try and finish raising to become grown responsible men, after marring their mom in 1997. We had many good times and some bad times. But I would do it all again. I hope that you enjoy reading this part of my life and experiences.

Dedication To My Stepsons  
I dedicate this book to Jacob Elliff and Nathan Elliff. This is a continuation of my life during the time that I was married to their mom. I am hopeful that they will enjoy reading it and perhaps it will bring back some good memories of that time to them.
I am very proud of the men that these two boys became. They are good fathers and good providers to their families.

Introduction
This book is the continuation of the life of Barry Franklin Anthony Raffray. This is the third book in the series of books depicting his life story.
This book covers mostly the second marriage for Barry to Sarah Ruth Elliff of Texas City, Texas. Again, relive the pain, enjoy the good times and rejoice in his triumphs as Barry, at times, struggles his way through life trying to have a positive influence on the people around him.

MY THIRD BOOK
A New Life Begins

Sunshine Comes Into my Life    
In 1994, just Kent and I lived in my house. I was still playing the field with the ladies. Kent was working at Blockbuster and taking communications courses at Alvin Community College. Kent moved back to Austin in late 1994 or early 1995 and got a job. This left me alone in the League City house.
Also in 1994, I took notice of this girl who was working in the accounting department which was across the hall from my office. During the past several years we did not communicate very much unless it was business related. I knew that she had gone through a divorce as I had several years before. She was and still is much younger than I. I did not think that she would be interested in an older fellow like me. I on the other hand, I was not looking to get into a long term relationship with anyone. I was spending most of my time at work. It seemed that I was married to my job. What an awful thing to do.
Sarah Ruth Elliff was her name. She came into the accounting office working for Dave Hardy as a temporary employee. This was in late 1991. The accounting group was made up three or four ladies who mostly stayed to themselves and did their work. As Virg Bodiker and I worked in transportation and distribution of our product, we created a lot of the bills that the accounting group processed for payment. So we interacted with this group very much. Virg handled most of the invoice approvals for my group, so he interacted with these ladies more than I did. I interacted more with the bosses and the other department heads at this plant.
Sarah and Virg used to play around with rubber bands. She would sneak up on him and use her finger to stretch the rubber band and let it go. It shot out like a projectile at him. He would retaliate. I do not know how or when this started. It had been going on for some time when I really notice it. I wished that it was me interacting with Sarah in this way. I said or did nothing for a long time. Somehow one day, Sarah and I were shooting rubber bands at each other. This went on for a short time. One day she popped up at my doorway and let fly one of her projectiles. It hit me in the left eye as I was looking up from working at my desk. She quickly shouted that she was sorry and came and grabbed my head with both hands and pulled my face to her bosom to console me. I liked the way she felt. She then looked at my eye to check for damage. There was none. We decided to quit this rubber band shooting because someone could get hurt.
We started communicating more and more after this happened.
Prior to this incident the most communications we had had was when her dad had passed away in 1993. She was away from work for several days and I overheard her workmates telling someone that her dad had passed away. Upon her return to work, I happen to meet her in the hallway and I offered my sympathy to her on the passing of her dad. She acknowledged me by saying, thanks. That was the longest conversation that I remember having with her until the rubber band incident in 1994.
Did I say that I was not looking to get into a long term relationship? Well, guess what happened? I/we fell in love again. It did not happen this fast though. We went out off and on for almost three years. She had two sons, Jacob and Nathan. I had three sons, Kent, Lane, and Todd. As you can see the names of my sons are easier to spell and they are all four letter words. Her sons are as different as night and day. I did not know if I really wanted to participate in raising two more boys or not. Jacob was about twelve and Nathan about eleven at this time. After going through what I had with my three sons and the age I was at this time, I did not know what to do. But love is a great thing. If a person truly loves another person they could accomplish great things together. When all else fails or succeeds you still have love of each other. You work all things out. It is not always easy but love is not always supposed to be easy. Anyway, I wanted to help and have a positive influence on these boy’s lives if I could.
We all drew closer over the next couple of years. Sarah and I got married on January 1, 1997. Jacob and Nathan had moved to live with their dad in the Fort Worth area. More on this part of my life to come later.
