Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The citadel of Quebec is on the highest part of the city - just on the edge of a precipice on one side next the St. Lawrence - and is undoubtedly a strong situation; but the heights on the Point Levi side, not more than a thousand yards distant, command the fort, and the place is approachable from the Plains of Abraham, although there are martello towers between the fortifications and the Plains.
