WHO WAS MARIE CURIE?
M arie Curie was a pioneer in the research and application of radiation. She was a chemist as well as a physicist during a time when not many women pursued these fields of study. Along with Pierre, her husband, she found the radioactive elements radium and polonium.



















































































































































































































































I n 1903, she and her husband received the Nobel Prize for Physics for their research into the spontaneous radiation that had been discovered by Henri Becquerel, who was awarded the other half of the Prize. Marie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize.
