Description

In the lives of every creature on earth are echoes of events that occurred a long long time ago. Events of unimaginable scale and violent beauty that connect all living things, their every action and decision, their every heartbeat, to the greatest story ever told. This is a tale 13.8 billion years in the making that has seen billions of stars and billions of worlds live and die to create the only planet we know that is home to life. From the stardust that built us to the cosmic ingredients that sustain us and the starlight that powers it all, this is the story of a universe that birthed the Black child.
Every cell in the Black child’s body is linked to an ancient stream of energy connecting their life to the heart of a star and the imagination of God. This unbroken stream of Black history span vast reaches of time and space and stretches back to the very first notion of humanity. The Black man’s sole focus, the thing driving his very existence, is hunger.
We hunt no man. We hunt for energy. But not for ourselves. We are desperate to feed the hungry minds of the Black child. We want to feed them truth in the knowledge of themselves and where they fit in the history of time’s holy universe. This primal impulse stems from a deep connection we have to our purpose that extends beyond the ghettoes, beyond this country, to Africa. This is Black history. This is Black power. Black power is more abundant than ever. It’s just hiding in plain sight of a universal consciousness of the might and power of God. This book is mere meditation offering intellectual vitamins on critical race theory, the politics of racism and the hidden history behind the tug-o-war over the American story.

This book is a mere single page of many unfolding chapters in the history of our people.
You cannot tell the story of America without telling the story of Black America.
No people have a greater claim to the American flag than we do.

FOREWORD
In the lives of every creature on earth are echoes of events that occurred a long long time ago. Events of unimaginable scale and violent beauty that connect all living things, their every action and decision, their every heartbeat, to the greatest story ever told. This is a tale 13.8 billion years in the making that has seen billions of stars and billions of worlds live and die to create the only planet we know that is home to life. From the stardust that built us to the cosmic ingredients that sustain us and the starlight that powers it all, this is the story of a universe that birthed the Black child.
Every cell in the Black child’s body is linked to an ancient stream of energy connecting our life to the heart of a star in the imagination of God. This unbroken stream of Black history span vast reaches of time and space and stretches back to the very first notion of humanity. Ancient energy that existed at the origin of the universe powers everything, every planet, every star, every life. This is Black power. The top four ingredients in life, in our body, are the same top four ingredients of the universe. The top four chemically active atoms are hydrogen, oxygen, carbon and nitrogen. We are the universe. While we live in the universe the universe lives in us. We are special because we are the same.
We hunt no man. We hunt for energy. But not for ourselves. We are desperate to feed the hungry minds of the Black child. We want to feed them truth in the knowledge of themselves and where they fit in the history of time’s holy universe. The Black man’s sole focus, the thing driving our very existence, is hunger. This simple primal impulse stems from a deep connection we have to our purpose that extends beyond the ghettoes, beyond this country, to Africa. Africa is where life’s most vital connection to the universe can be found. Black power is more abundant than ever. It’s just hiding in the plain sight of a universal consciousness of the might and power of God. This book is mere meditation and intellectual vitamins on critical race theory, the politics of racism and the hidden history behind the tug-o-war over the American story.
UP FROM SLAVERY
N ow that the era of chattel slavery is over, an era of mental slavery have been imposed to a point where we have been locked in a 400 year old room. The residue of slavery is all around us. Between the Dutch, Portuguese, Spain, Great Britain and others including America, there was an organized conquest of Africa . Chattel slavery was real. The generational scar of mental slavery is just as real. America would like us to forget. You can tell a great deal about a nation by what it remembers, by what it celebrates in its museums, by what it builds monuments to, how it remembers its history, and far too often the African American is neglected. African American history has always been threatened in America’s future. In so many instances it has been hidden and made invisible. Black bones and Black bodies are used as fill in America’s foundation and fertile soil. This is a tale of two America’s. But this is a tale of only one history. Slavery is not the fault of today’s politics but concerning today’s relationship with Black and White’s living history, it is a shared history. Slavery is one of America’s ugly birth defects. When we try to downplay it or forget that it ever happened, we are impeding our own growth as a people, a community and a country.
Martin Luther King preached that we have to give ourselves to this struggle until the end. He was talking about the struggle for equality. He was talking about “the other America.” There is a lot of depth to the story of African American history that we must research and harvest for younger generations to come. We must do our due diligence. We must strive to study our own history. When I was seven years old in 1968, we were on a remarkable path toward racial justice that was both scary and amazing. There was the Civil Rights Act, and the Voting Rights Acts. We were winning on buses and at lunch counters. We were at a milestone of incredible momentum and moving forward on racial justice. BUT…
King got killed. Kennedy got killed. Malcolm and Medgar got killed. Black folks fell backwards in time after so many murders and mishaps in our history in the American journey. And here we are years and years later still trying to move forward in our faith and fortitude. Once again, young activists are forcing America to take a look at herself, forcing America to look in the mirror in terms of our true history and racial prejudice. Once again, young activists are calling us to account. Once again, Black folks are forced to see the history behind the method of madness veiled in the American struggle.
The question becomes, “What are we going to do about our plight on these shores?” We are our own worst enemies when it comes to making true racial progress in this country. This concept of taking one step forward and two steps backwards will
