#1

The Northern Club in Las Vegas got its gaming permit the next day from the Sheriff’s Department. The Meadows in Meadow Acres and the Pair-O-Dice out on Highway 91 were licensed during the summer.

#2

Luciano had few problems with the law, but he was involved in many fights. He met Meyer Lansky at a street craps game, and they became friends. Meyer was the only one who was able to look into the crazed eyes of Bugsy Siegel and make him understand.

#3

Prohibition put every tough, enterprising criminal in the country into business. The likes of Al Capone could never have amassed their fortunes without the government’s help. With the tremendous income produced, politicians became so many pawns in the running of gang-controlled cities.

#4

Bugsy Siegel was a mobster in the 1920s. He was involved in bookmaking, bootlegging, hijacking, extortion, and loan sharking. He took his lumps, but always returned twice what he got. When he was picked up for questioning by the police, he had a black eye.

#5

Luciano was forced to meet with Masseria in 1931, and the two leaders decided to form a local group of allied crime families. Meanwhile, Meyer and Ben went on with their normal lives behind the murders.

#6

When his rivals wouldn’t share two of their gaming joints in New York with him and Ben, they paid off an IRS agent to look at Gordon’s income. In retaliation, Gordon sent his lieutenant, Charlie Chink Sherman, to kill them. The bomb didn’t explode, but it left wood, bricks, and metal sheeting down the chimney of the Hard Tack Social Club.

#7

The law of silence, or Omerta, was sacred to most mobsters, and Bugsy was no exception. In 1932, Ben checked himself into a hospital with stomach cramps. That evening he slipped out of his room, went down the fire escape, and picked-up two trigger men. They drove to a small, poorly lit home where they posed as detectives to entice Tony Frabrazzo to come out onto the stoop.

#8

The Commission was designed to settle all national disputes over territories and businesses.
