#5

Many people, when they first learn the facts about Pearl Harbor, think: Hey, I never knew there was any controversy about Pearl Harbor. I never read about it in school or in the New York Times.

#6

The Lusitania affair brought America into World War I. In 1915, Britain was at war with Germany, and the Germans sank the Lusitania because she was transporting millions of rounds of ammunition, shrapnel shells, and gun cotton.

#7

The American public was suddenly regaled with fake atrocity stories about the Spanish roasting Catholic priests and feeding Cubans to sharks. The Spanish-American War ensued, and Americans were rallied by the cry Remember the Maine! However, historians still debate what really sank the Maine.

#8

The Spanish-American War was a result of the American people’s outrage over the atrocious Spaniards, but when the smoke was over, they realized that the cause of the war was the price of sugar.

#9

The United States fought the Germans in Europe and the Japanese in Asia during World War II, and the Soviet Union was our ally during the war. But at the Big Three conferences at Teheran and Yalta, President Roosevelt asked Stalin if he would break his treaty with Japan and enter the Pacific war. Stalin agreed on condition that the United States supply him with all the weapons and materiel he needed.

#10

The Korean War was the result of a simple accident. The people who make our foreign policy are just good Joes, like you and me, who make mistakes. It’s easy for you to sit there and criticize them decades after the fact, when you’re not affected by those mistakes.

#11

The Tonkin Gulf Resolution was passed in 1964, authorizing President Lyndon B. Johnson to intervene in the Vietnam War. The resolution was based on two alleged attacks on American destroyers in the Gulf by Vietnamese torpedo boats. But Admiral James Stockdale, who was a pilot in the Gulf at the time, saw no Vietnamese boats at all.

#12

The Tonkin Gulf Resolution was passed in Congress, authorizing the use of military force in Vietnam. It was a bad sign that the Washington bureaucracy seemed to be under the control of a mindless group of people who were vain enough to pick their own legitimacies regardless of the evidence.

#13

The Iraq War is still controversial, as it is recent. The justifications given for the war - bringing freedom and democracy to the Iraqi people - were not the original reasons presented.

#14

Operation Rockingham and MI6 were supplying skewed information to the Joint Intelligence Committee, which was behind the intelligence dossiers that the government published to convince the parliament and the public of the necessity of war against Iraq.

#15

I consider patriotism one of mankind’s noblest virtues. My values and motives are completely different from those of the left, as is over 95 percent of my information.
