The meaning of life is a slippery subject. There are questions beyond scientific observation that are called metaphysics. The telos of human life is happiness, but it’s not everybody’s cup of tea.

The structure of reality is slippery. Some philosophers draw a distinction between essential and accidental properties. The way Aristotle put it is that essential properties are those without which a thing wouldn’t be what it is, and accidental properties are those that determine how a thing is, but not what it is.
