Your New Story Introduction and Overview

Many have sought to sway me to their religious beliefs using condemning words or ideas that would suggest they personally know the magnificence that created the universes. I am not that person. I do not need you to be Christian, Atheist, Agnostic, or even Spiritual with a neutral belief in what some might call God. I simply want to suggest a concept that may help you dissolve negativity from your past that no longer serves your present in hopes for greater life today and a brighter future.
Your Story is an amalgam of all that you believe and feel about yourself—right now. This same story presents itself in every daily decision, in what you desire to become and in whom you presently attract to your life.
The good news is:
You are the writer and director of Your Life’s Story ;
You can carefully choose the plot; At anytime, you may rewrite your story to become a more positive and prosperous one; You can change your atmosphere and surround–ings; and
Rearrange, add or delete any of the characters.
Your Mind’s creative ability is the key to change and taking back any power you may have lost. As a result, Your New Story will be equal to or greater than any amazing future you could have ever imagined! This book is going to show you how to accomplish this change, first in the story of your mind , then in the story of your new and amazing life.
Who Placed That Thought There?
At birth, the human brain is like a newly formatted hard drive. When you come into this world, your brain is mostly free storage. It comes with a prepackaged set of wiring that some may call instinctual behavior, like the genetics of animals that cause a natural instinct to hunt for food, build nests, mate, and protect.
Instinct alone, though, will not get a human very far in a world that is thriving on intellect. To that end, your parents, tutors, ministers and spiritual or religious advisors begin to impose instructions upon you. This instruction is stored in your brain—hardwired, as a matter of fact—as neural pathways. Some pathways are positive, some are negative.
Your story is all of the data that has been cumulatively stored in your brain up to this point. Some of it was of your own choosing, most of it was not. Your story is what you think you know about yourself, based on the circumstances of your life. Your actions consistently and constantly reflect what is already present inside your brain.
Metaphorically, when you retrieve a file from the hard drive of your computer it should look exactly as you left it. It remains the same unless and until you make the edits. The stories from your past that exist in your brain are often retrieved from your memory, through sense-memory recall. This involuntary action causes you to react with the same emotion as you originally had acted in the past.
You may have already pulled up a few of those files and edited them according to your new beliefs and ideas. Somewhere though, deeply imbedded in the mainframe of your brain, the original file still exists. This is how forensic experts find original material on computers that are thought to have been wiped clean. In you are shadows that lead you back to the memory that once housed your Old Story . They still remain on the hard drive of your mind.
The following questions will shed some light on what may be lurking in the shadows of your Old Story:
Is your old story positive?
Did you have an amazing childhood, but still feel unhappy and unfulfilled?
Are there missing memories from your past that keep you from understanding your present actions?
Are you perfectly willing to blame all of your life on yourself, or do you blame your life on other people?
Are you poor, because you do not know how to live a prosperous life?
Are you anxious and sick all of the time because you do not think you deserve health?
Your answers to the question above will help you understand why you often live your life with a bad self-image, anxious, depressed, or angry. What you think about your life always expresses as how you live your life .
All of the stories we tell ourselves about our own lives are stored neatly in the brain. Some of our negative stories come from unlikely sources, such as old friends, family, abuse from the past, and negative input from teachers. Most of our stories, however, come from our initial upbringing and past intimate relationships. All of this data is used constantly, both in the foreground and in the background of your brain, in your consciousness and subconscious, expressing in everything you do and say.
How do we live an authentic life and untangle the web of our past stories, when the thoughts and actions of the past seem to be branded onto our brains and cause us to react and respond before we even understand what has happened in an anxious situation?
This is a tricky and tenuous conundrum. As you engage in discovering your true and authentic self, often your old story is likened to an old friend or relative rearing up ugly versions of your life and fighting you for a righteous view of whom he or she thinks you are.
Good, bad, nice or evil, it makes no difference what others think. You are the only one able to define yourself.
Ultimately, you must use what you learn in this book to edit the past in your Mind and keep this new information on the desktop of your present life.
The new edits you make to old thoughts are always used as a reminder of who you are currently . Until you are ready to press the metaphoric SAVE button to store what you have learned to the deepest part of your heart and soul and make it your Truth, your days will be filled with monitoring and observing your actions and reactions to your life. This observation process will help you decide what edits should remain and what edits will not serve you.
This process may take firing a few people from your life. This may require changing jobs. This may even insist you start over again in a new relationship, finding the right match this time or living alone for awhile. Whatever it takes, you must find your Truth, which will lead you to living a more authentic life!
Continuing in our computer metaphor: this would be like going through all
