Description

This devotional collection offers a multigenerational perspective on faith and practical life applications for Bible study with weekly questions designed for a variety of settings.
Following Jesus can seem like an overwhelming task. Yet for all who believe, Jesus asks us to consider the cost and to follow Him. We all walk a unique road in life, yet God equips each of us to pursue Him despite the challenges that face us. Faith can grow stagnant and unsteady if we grow unaware and don’t continually tend to it.

With the purpose of applying Scripture to everyday life and striving for unwavering faith, A Faith That Stands features twelve monthly themes, including forgiveness, perseverance, surrender, patience, trust, self-control, and many others. It also provides multigenerational insights from twelve authors in an extended family, making it a great resource as a personal or family daily devotional.
This collection offers a broad, yet personal perspective on faith with practical life application questions at the end of each week. Designed for a variety of settings, its versatility makes it a great resource as a personal Bible study or small- group study with some friends.

Dad
Dedication
Although my dad is now in heaven, he will always be an example to me of God’s amazing ability to transform a person at any age. I witnessed this complete change in my dad firsthand, as in my growing-up years, I was very afraid of him. His anger consumed our home, and I was overwhelmed with anxiety and resentment. As the years went by, through much faith and prayer, my dad came to know and follow Jesus. His choice changed everything for our whole family.
I’ll never forget, then married with two small children, sitting at the kitchen table when I received a phone call. It was my dad, wanting to take my sister Wendy and me out for lunch to a very nice restaurant over the holiday when we’d both be in town. Something was different in his voice, and I eagerly anticipated what he might be up to.
I remember the white linen tablecloths, the floral dress I wore, and the corsages he gave to us. He proceeded to confess with tears that he had terribly messed up as a father and that he was deeply sorry. No, he couldn’t take back all the years of mistrust and hurt, but he wanted us to know that he loved us and wanted a relationship with us. We cried, laughed, rejoiced, and forgave.
That Father’s Day, I wrote my dad a song that prayed a blessing over him. He cried, saying he didn’t deserve a daughter writing a song for him like that. But I told him that his journey had taught me the most valuable lesson about God: no one is too old or wayward to be changed from the inside out through Jesus. If God doesn’t give up on people, neither will I.
Therefore, I gratefully dedicate this book to my dad, Dale Dellmore, for through forgiveness my relationship with him was restored. God is faithful. And someday I know I will see my dad in heaven, where we will worship together at the feet of Jesus (with bagpipes … ha).
