Our Story
Warren found his “good thing” in Yolonda in 1982. He decided that he wanted to have her as his good thing for life to help him get to his purpose and destiny. They became husband and wife, on September 8, 1984. Warren is a mighty man of valor and has been blessed with healing hands. God blessed them with 5 children and 6 grandchildren, a play son Demetrius, and his daughter Akira.
We are very proud of their accomplishments! We tried hard to train them up in the way that they should go, to the best of our ability, for we struggled with many life situations. “We learned that God wants only the best for us, and whatever situations or problems we faced, God either caused them or allowed them. We are still trusting and believing all things would work together for our good because God said it!” As Warren and Yolonda moved forward into their destiny and purpose, they not only went through, but they grew through it all, while building a strong foundation in Jesus Christ. They learned to depend on God for everything! Warren and Yolanda have been married for 38 years and remain faithful to working together as the apple of God’s Eye. To God Be the Glory for the things He has done!

About Yolonda
This book was inspired to encourage, uplift, motivate, and help move others forward into their purpose and destiny! My name is Yolonda Lucas, age 61, and dedicated wife of 39 years to my king, Warren Lucas. I am a proud mother of my oldest daughter Dionna and her daughter Latrice, oldest son Shavell and his wife Katie and their two children Jordan and Jaylen, Gregory and his twin daughters Karlie and Kylie, my twin daughters Jelinda her daughter Jennifer and Jelisa, my spiritual son Demetrius and his daughter Akyra. I have learned through my life journey that nothing can move or destroy the devil but the word of God! That is why we must study to show ourselves approved unto God (Refer to 2 Timothy 2:15). Our main goals on this life journey are to really love unconditionally and lead by example. Don’t just talk the talk but also walk the walk, strengthen, and inspire others to accomplish positive, productive goals, and build the kingdom, so God’s perfect will can be done on Earth as it is in Heaven! God never promised us that this journey would not have opposition, and we walk through the tulips, but the work and the job gets lighter as we fellowship and cast our cares unto Him; at this point, HE will lighten our load (Refer to 1 Peter 5:7). Everyone’s opposition is designed to help us reach our destiny and purpose; growing though each situation is the key! We must stay open to learning something new at all times if we recognize a teachable moment. We learn 2 things from a situation: What to do and what not to do! Further, the worst part about grieving is regretting what you said or didn’t say to someone before they left…
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Dedication
I was inspired, motivated, and mentored by five amazing women to whom I dedicate this book: My mother, Elviejelina Brantley, and the other inspirational women have gone to be with the Lord: My grandmother Bishop Mercea Marie Williams, my Godmother and aunt Yvonne Baylock, Reverend Gladys P. Harrell, and Chief Apostle Yvonne Lee-Wilson (Both were my natural and spiritual leaders). All of these awesome, powerful, and dynamic women contributed to the growth and productivity which has helped me move forward into excellence through and with Christ Jesus! “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). My first inspiration is my grandmother Bishop Mercea Marie Williams-Gatewood who has gone to be with the Lord! She made sure that I built a strong foundation in the Lord by taking me with her to every church service she attended. I remember leaving home at 9am and not returning home until 10pm, sometimes on weekdays attending Bible class and Sunday school. As I look back, I realize that I played an important role in her life. I carried her things, got her water, and watched as she preached. I was her armor bearer! She was such a dynamic teacher of the Word! She even opened her church in our home, called Galenamore Baptist Church, where I attended for 4 years. Although she had her own church, she always attended and would fellowship with other churches on the south and west side. I followed her until she passed away; she also officiated my wedding to my husband of 38 years in 1984. She passed away, April 1, 1994. She inspired and taught me, during her sickness, to learn to let go of hurt because it can eat at you like a cancer. She encouraged me to not only forgive others but yourself. That seems to be the hardest thing for people to do. They forgive others but have a hard time forgiving themselves! My second mentor is my aunt Yvonne Baylock who has gone to be with the Lord. She was also a great inspiration to me and always made sure I used proper grammar, even when I was writing a grocery list; she had a red pen to make any corrections! Before my grandma passed, she attended Spiral Temple of Truth Institute where the Rev. Gladys P. Harrell was pastor and founder. She is my third mentor and has also gone to be with the Lord. Gladys was such a good shepherd who truly cared about people; she never imposed judgment on anyone and was always looking for a way to encourage everybody, regardless of the issues which they faced. She was a dynamic teacher! Not only did she talk the talk but also walked the walk. She definitely practiced what she preached and was able to draw all kinds of people from every walk of life. Gladys truly loved them unconditionally, and you could feel it! She inspired me to move forward with my life, and though I had some issues, she helped me navigate through them by teaching me to apply the Word to those situations. God is the only one who could heal every area that was damaged! She also taught me that this walk was not how I perceived it. I thought that just attending church and going to class and half doing right and half applying the Word was going to work! As I humbled myself and sat at her feet hungry for the word of God, I realized that God wants all of you or nothing!
