Description

';If you remain in me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit.' John 15:5 While on earth, Jesus frequently encouraged His followers to trust and draw near to Him. Jesus extends that same invitation to us today, and there is nothing more important than knowing Jesus and being known by Him. When you are close to God, you can know better how to live.Anchored in Jesus explores what it means to have a living relationship with Christand how that is the key to growing strong as a believer. As you explore who Jesus is and what He has done for you, the Lord will work in your life so that you reflect His character more and more. You ';bear much fruit' when you live closely to Jesus and exhibit the same kind of love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, and self-control He modeled. Anchor yourself in Jesusand let Him transform you.

Our world is filled with storms. Turbulent problems assail the lives of many. In the midst of these storms, you need an anchor that can give you stability. Jesus is that anchor. He empowers and emboldens all who trust in Him. In Anchored in Jesus , veteran pastor Johnny Hunt shows us how to find firm footing in any instable environment. I highly recommend this book.
Steve Gaines, PhD Pastor, Bellevue Baptist Church, Memphis, TN
My dear friend Johnny Hunt has written a book on Jesus from his heart, not his head. In these days filled with storm and strife, waves and wind, we all need an anchor that will hold. This book will not only anchor you to Jesus but the real Jesus-not the Jesus of Hollywood but heaven; not the cultural Jesus but the biblical Jesus; not the Jesus many want Him to be but the Jesus we all need Him to be. Whether you are in a storm, going into a storm, or coming out of a storm, you need to read this book!
James Merritt Pastor, Cross Pointe Church, Duluth, GA Author, 52 Weeks with Jesus
Johnny Hunt is a walking illustration of the transforming life of Jesus Christ. The very title of this book, Anchored in Jesus , personifies his life story and the living legacy of his testimony. To this day, through his writing, speaking, and leading, Johnny motivates thousands upon thousands of people to win with Jesus daily. Get this book, read it, and share another copy with a friend!
Dr. Ronnie Floyd President/CEO, Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee
It is fitting that Johnny Hunt would write a book entitled Anchored in Jesus because that is exactly where he has been through the decades I have known and loved him. These words are not just some type of theoretical treatise but have been practically beaten out on the anvil of his personal experience.
O.S. Hawkins President/CEO GuideStone Financial Resources
I am always blessed and encouraged by the teaching ministry of my dear friend Johnny Hunt. This book does that once again. Anchored in Jesus teaches us just how all-sufficient and wonderful our Savior is. This book will stir your heart and inspire a greater passion for King Jesus.
Danny Akin President, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Wake Forest, NC
Pastor Johnny Hunt has always been about Jesus! I am thankful for his latest book, Anchored in Jesus , which reminds us that Christ is enough and He still is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. May this book ignite our hearts like the disciples who walked the road with Jesus, saying, Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road ? (Luke 24:32). You can hear His voice as you read this book: You are anchored in Me !
Jeff Crook Pastor, Christ Place Church, Flowery Branch, GA
In this topsy-turvy world, everyone needs an anchor as the winds and waves of life howl about us. My friend and beloved brother in Christ shares why an anchor is critical, but even more critical, why that anchor must be Jesus. Johnny eloquently describes how the peace that surpasses understanding can only be found moored to the anchor secured by none other than the Creator of those winds and waves.
Sonny Perdue United States Secretary of Agriculture
Pastor Johnny has mentored thousands of pastors, including me, in what it means to serve Jesus as a faithful shepherd. You won t find a man in our generation more committed to God s Word, God s people, and God s Great Commission.
J.D. Greear, PhD Pastor, The Summit Church, Raleigh-Durham, NC President, Southern Baptist Convention
While I have never served on active duty in the military, I have pastored in a Navy town for 29 years. The Navy anchor symbolizes no drifting while in wind or waves. Johnny Hunt will help you stand firm against the drifting current of our culture in his book Anchored in Jesus.

Introduction
THE POWER OF LIVING DAILY IN JESUS
T he careers of both architects and mariners rise and fall on anchors. An architect uses the term to refer to the strong foundation in bedrock required for any large structure. A mariner uses it to refer to a physical anchor that keeps a ship in place so that it doesn t drift into harm s way. I believe we can learn something crucial from both of them.
If we hope to live successfully as followers of Jesus, we need a solid foundation that anchors us to bedrock. If we hope to finish well, we need a strong anchor to keep us from drifting into trouble.
For the Christian, that anchor is Jesus Himself.
Getting anchored in Jesus keeps us from getting tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting. Getting anchored in Jesus enables us to speak the truth in love so that we may grow up in all things into Him who is the head-Christ (Ephesians 4:14-15).
Getting anchored in Jesus will enable you and me to produce healthy fruit that yields a life of positive influence and godly character. Don t let anyone deceive you: what happens in private inevitably becomes public. All of us are constantly engaged in an internal battle that sooner or later goes external: For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish (Galatians 5:17).
Do you know of any man who feels frustrated that he s not doing the things that he longs to do? I m sure you do; maybe you re even that man. How, then, can you become the man that Jesus calls you to be? Is it even possible, given this fierce battle between flesh and Spirit? I know it s possible-but only as you and I yield more and more to the staggering power of Christ.
Paul describes our situation like this: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). In other words, as we invite God s Holy Spirit to fill us-as we make it a daily habit to walk in Jesus and to be controlled by Him-our lives start changing in amazing ways.
Sounds simple enough, doesn t it? But we all know it s no easy struggle! If we want to walk in the Spirit, it will mean the battle of our lives. More than one godly person has told me, The Christian life is not just difficult, it s impossible. Only a consistent experience of Christ in us will enable us to enjoy the hope of glory.
My whole world changed as a young man when I discovered that Jesus made available to me everything I need to access the divine power it takes to live in Him. Encouragement fuels enthusiasm, it s said, and I feel thrilled to know that the same Lord who has called me to a life of obedience has also furnished me with the grace and power I need to live out that calling. All of this makes me wildly enthusiastic about the future.
And it can do the same for you.
In my early years after coming to faith in Jesus, I started learning dozens of key principles about my newfound relationship with God. Before Christ, my life consisted mostly of gambling, drinking, cursing, fighting, and the like. There wasn t much else. Charles H. Spurgeon, a famous English preacher from the 1800s, once said that when God saved him, he lost 80 percent of his vocabulary. For me, the percentage was probably more like 90 percent. At the beginning, that meant my testimony for Christ focused primarily on
