8
God makes the world
In the beginning God made heaven and earth.
But everywhere was dark and empty.
9
Then God said, “Let there be light!”
And there was light.
10
The next day God put water in the sea.
And he put air and clouds into the sky.
On the third day God made land.
He made hills and valleys.
Then he covered the land with trees and flowers.
12
On day four, God put the sun in the sky.
The night was dark, so he put the moon
and stars in the sky too.
13
On day five, God filled the sea with fish.
And he filled the air with birds.
“It is all good,” said God.
14
On day six, God made the animals: dogs and
horses, lions and lizards, turtles and pandas.
Then God made the first man, Adam.
And the first woman, Eve.
15
On the seventh day, God rested.
He looked at everything he had made.
It was all good!
Genesis 1–2
In the garden
God gave Adam and Eve a beautiful garden.
There they lived happily with the animals.
God warned Adam and Eve,
“Never eat fruit from this special tree.”
One day a sneaky snake whispered to Eve,
“Why don’t you eat fruit off that tree?”
20
So she did.
Then Adam took a bite too.
They both disobeyed God.
“Why are you hiding?” asked God.
“We ate that fruit,” said Adam.
21
22
“Then you must leave the garden,” said God.
“You can never come back.”
Adam and Eve felt sorry – and so, so sad.
Genesis 3
23
Noah builds an ark
Years passed and more people were born.
Often they did bad things.
God became sorry he ever made the world.
24
But God found one good man – Noah.
“I’m going to flood the world,” God said.
“You must build a great boat to save your family.”
