Acknowledgements
This volume draws together and develops the papers presented at the conference ‘ Totus Christus : Knowing and Loving the Son of Man’, 9–11 July 2018 at Pusey House, Oxford. In other words, behind this book lies the labour of those who helped to fund, organize and assist the running of the conference. Petter Kringberg produced publicity and service booklets, as well as coordinating the large team of volunteers who cheerfully assisted with different tasks and jobs each day. Ryan Cox kept the House in order and running smoothly. The librarian Anna James welcomed visitors and booksellers to the library and to the House, and once again provided the pains au chocolat at breakfast. The steward Karen Westhaver ensured that our guests had a place to stay. Louis Harris helped with recording the lectures. We are especially grateful for the support and gracious cooperation of St Cross College, with whom Pusey House shares both buildings and a common life. The hard work of Flori Olteanu and the catering team at St Cross produced the refreshments and the fine meals that sustained us during three of the hottest days of the summer. The sacristan Richard Keeble enabled us to offer edifying worship by coordinating the serving teams at the liturgies. The Master of the Music Matthew Reese, the choir, and all the angels attending upon us, beautified and elevated the worship. We are also most grateful to Archpriest Stephen Platt, Rector of the Parish of St Nicholas the Wonderworker, and to Fr Ian Graham, parish priest of the Greek Orthodox community of the Holy Trinity, for leading Vespers one evening at the conference.
Finally, the book came to fruition only with the support and encouragement of David Shervington and Mary Matthews at SCM, and all who worked with them, including Rachel Geddes and Kate Hughes. We are grateful to Francis Young for again producing the index for this volume. We would also like to thank David Harris for his work on designing the book cover, and the Society of Antiquaries, London, for permission to use the image ‘Dream of the Virgin’ by Simone dei Crocifissi (1330–99), an image that evokes at least some of the many registers of the Totus Christus explored in this book.
We are especially grateful to the following sponsors whose support made the conference and the ensuing volume possible:
The Fellowship of St Alban and St Sergius
The Anglican Association
The Prayer Book Society
The Anglican and Eastern Churches Association
The St Theosevia Centre for Christian Spirituality
Lady Peel Legacy Trust
