Eklavya, the Most Obedient Disciple
Eklavya’s story is a very important part of the Mahabharat . It depicts the eagerness of a student to learn from his chosen guru, without caring for what the consequences maybe. The tribal boy is a paragon of discipline, devotion and obedience. His loyalty towards Guru Dronacharya is unique. The story also depicts how a person can achieve his goal by practicing determination, willpower and loyalty regardless of however low he may be by birth.
The name of Eklavya is celebrated widely as the most obedient disciple of all times. He serves as an example for modern students.

 
Hiranyadhanu – The Tribal Chief
Long ago, there lived a tribe in Kuru land jungle of a huge kingdom, Hastinapur. Hiranyadhanu was the chief of the tribe. He was a brave man. His wife Nishangi was a woman of virtue and the bravest in her tribe. She loved to carry a bow and arrow around everywhere.
Hiranyadhanu was a rich man. He had a huge herd of cows. The horns of these cows were coated with gold. Nishangi was responsible for protecting the cows and property. She was supported by other tribal archers.
Despite all the riches and property, the couple was unhappy. They didn’t have a child. Nishangi used to shed tears when alone while Hiranyadhanu could never rest in peace. He longed for an heir for his tribe.

One day, an elderly man visited Hiranyadhanu.
“My lord! Soldiers from Hastinapur kingdom are stealing our cattle. We need to do something about it,” said the wise man.
“Ok. Then, we’ll proceed with our tribal army and look into the matter.”
“Thank you, Your Highness! If you don’t mind, I have some advice for you,” said the wise man.
“Go ahead!”
“My lord, I know you are there to protect us. But what after you? Don’t you think our tribe needs an heir? He will take care of us in future,” said the man.
Hiranyadhanu was sad to hear this.
“It’s not in my hands,” the tribal chief sighed!
“Don’t worry my lord. Your father got you from God Ekjoi. Seek his help. He will surely bless you.”
“Is it possible?” Hiranyadhanu was delighted to hear this.
“You along with your wife must visit God Ekjoi on a moonless night. Get into the sacred cave temple on Hiranyagarbha mountain and spend a month inside it without eating anything.
