Description

Are you somebody who is confused about life and you are about to hang up your gloves? Then you might want to read this open for some guidance. This is basically written for those who are interested in getting back on track with life.

David said in Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil.”

Why did fear not cripple David in his darkest moment? It’s all about how he perceived the darkness he was walking through. It’s what you see while in the darkness that shapes your tomorrow.

Charles Konadu-Adjei, Ph.D., a minister of the Gospel, drives that point and many others home in this book geared for those who have abandoned their dreams because of yesterday’s mistakes, struggles or tragedies.

He offers ten practical strategies that any individual can use to reset their lives. Learn how to:

• avoid brooding over past failures and lost opportunities;

• avoid making excuses when going through tough times;

• stop telling God how big your problems are—and begin telling your problems how big your God is.

Losing is not important, but the way you deal with setbacks is important. It’s easy to stay down, but it takes men and women with purpose to get up and fight back.

Join the author as he shares biblical and practical insights to help you learn from the past, reset your life, and move toward better tomorrows.

INTRODUCTION
I woke up one morning upset about life because I was reflecting on decisions and choices I’d made the previous night. While pondering the errors, my inner man said to me, “You need to make peace with your past. If you fail to do so, your past will continue to impede the years ahead of you.” Then it occurred to me that any man born of a woman is likely to experience some form of darkness in life. The problem isn’t the darkness; what we allow the darkness to do to our lives is what matters.
There may be two people in the same tunnel, but one may see light at the end of it while the other may only observe darkness. David said in Psalm 23:4 (NIV), “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil.” Why did fear not cripple David in his darkest moment? It’s all about how David perceived the darkness he was walking through. It’s what you see while in the darkness that shapes your tomorrow.
I was watching America’s Got Talent on June 8, 2021, and Jane Marczewski, a.k.a. Nightbirde, rocked the stage with a smile, happiness, and a great voice. But what made her smile different from others? Nightbirde took the stage looking thin and frail, but she exuded such serenity and strength that when she revealed she had cancer in her lungs, spine, and liver—and that the doctors had given her a 2 percent chance of survival—it shook everyone to the core, including the tough and mean Simon Cowell. When asked why she was still full of power in spite of her prognosis, she replied, “Two percent is still better than 0 percent. It’s important everyone knows I’m so much more than the bad things that’s happened to me. You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.” The effective utilization of your condition will determine whether you’ll see light or darkness at the end of the tunnel.
As I continued assessing of my life, my inner man reminded me of what the psalmist said in Psalm 30:5 (NIV): “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” All of the things in the verse last for a certain duration, and your condition does too. God’s anger lasts for just a moment. Even if the yesterday that you don’t want your tomorrow to replicate was a result of what you did to attract the anger of your Father, His anger lasts only for a moment.
The good news is that God’s favor is everlasting. It is endless compared to His anger. Weeping endures for the night, but joy comes in the morning—and so will your yesterday and your tomorrow. It’s incumbent upon each person to keep the dream alive. Life is too short to live with regrets. The more you allow your past to interfere with your present, the more you will ruin your future. Prophet T. B. Joshua said, “The greatest way to live life is to spend it on something that’ll outlive life.” Spending time brooding over our failures isn’t a wise thing to do because it will not outlive your life. It can’t be your legacy!
The night is an indication that morning is on its way. It is coming to us regardless of how long it takes. We need to maintain the morning. Pentecostals, Charismatics, Evangelicals, and other Christian faiths praise the Lord to greet themselves. The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) greets the day differently. The members of this fellowship greet their fellow believers with a “good morning” regardless of the hour of the day. They don’t know anything like good afternoon or good night.
I was confused the first time I heard them exchanging these greetings. I found out they don’t want night—where the prince of darkness rules—to fall on their tomorrows. The past is certainly not the present, and it shouldn’t be the future that you dream of. Saying goodbye to your yesterday to welcome your tomorrow isn’t the responsibility of society; it is an individual mandate. Until the individual takes the initiative, the needed assistance will never arrive.
For the dreams of our tomorrows to become a reality, some basic principles must be met. Success, they say, is predictable because it attracts work. As long as one is prepared to work on their yesterday, their tomorrow will be brighter. This book isn’t like any of the inspirational books that promise four or ten steps for a divine turnaround. This book doesn’t promise a quick fix because that’s not the concept of God. This book is full of practical principles and concepts that must be put into practice to enjoy life.
Your tomorrows will never mimic your yesterdays if you apply and implement the biblical and life principles in this book. The time to say goodbye to yesterday and greet a brand-new tomorrow is now. The problem with us isn’t lack of concepts, principles, or ideas; it is the application and implementation of principles, concepts, and ideas in our daily lives.
As you read this book, I pray that God grants you the grace, peace, and joy to apply these principles and concepts to your life to enable you to welcome your brand-new tomorrow.
CHAPTER 1
SETBACKS CAN’T BE DRAWBACKS
M any are weak and paralyzed in life because of yesterday’s incidents, but yesterday is just a platform for a new tomorrow. The past wasn’t designed to be your future. Every sunset is an opportunity to reset. Psalm 118:23–25 (KJV) says, “This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
The writer didn’t mention yesterday because every day is different from the previous one, and our lives shouldn’t be determined by what happened the day before. Some have understood Psalm 118 and have applied it to their lives. Some have developed the resiliency and tenacity to face life regardless of the experiences of the night, but others are being governed negatively by their setbacks.
Why do you hold onto the past when your future is standing right in front of you? William Shakespeare said, “Sweet are the uses of adversity which, like the toad, ugly and venomous, wears yet a precious jewel in his head.” We must learn to use adversity for our benefit. Cheaters, they say, never win; it’s those who lift up their heads in dark times who make it to the end.
Setbacks happen when something temporarily stops or reverses your progress. In the realm of time, no condition is permanent. Bishop Jakes said, “Failure and setback are
