Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The present English edition is translated from the third French edition (paris, 191 the difference consisting in a series of corrections of details. The most note worthy among them are due to the suggestions of that excellent liturgist, M. Atwell Bayley, whom I take pleasure in thanking for the friendly care and attention he has bestowed on the English translation.
