This photograph was taken at Holmes Beach, Florida. It represents the essence of this book by the many different people standing in amazement of the wonders of God and his angel watching over them as well as adoring the cross. Also, it represents the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

This is dedicated to:
• My departed wife of 37 years, Lois Baumgardner (1934–1997).
• My four boys: David, Michael, Gregory, and Steven, who are my ongoing life support and love for so many years.
• My grandchildren Ashley, Chelsea, Connor, and Regina whose love is so enduring.
• My departed brother Dorance (1929–2015) with his strong devotion to God.
• My departed sister Coletta (1931–2004) who had such a wonderful sense of humor, loved to read, and her love and devotion to Jesus as well as her wonderful prayers.
• My departed second wife of 11 years, Shirley Holmes (1934–2010) who showed me how to love again and to turn depression into the Love of Jesus Christ.
• My step–children: Jeffery, Terry, Debra, and Pam. My step–grandchildren: Sean, Brenna, Ashley, Alexandra, and Allex. My step–great–grandchildren: Wyatt, and Sadie, all of who became my second family to cherish and love.
• My dear church friend Kristin Trepanier–Henry that helped with a great deal of editing.
• My departed special priest friend, Father Carl Birarelli (1926-2021, 63 years as a priest). He and I frequently met to just talk in general or sometimes about this book. He had such a great sense of humor. I especially remember the precious times father said mass, only he and I, using his dining room table.
• Last but not least, my departed friend Ed Hagen (1947–2022) and his wife Anita who offered welcomed suggestions and book editing.
A few of the chapters of this book were first distributed as separate articles to respond to discussions that came up in various Bible study classes that started about the year 2000. One chapter is actually the brief summary of a complete bible study class.
The background for this started to be assembled in written form about 2011 for its final assembly in August of 2022.

INTRODUCTION
Let Scripture Speak for Itself provides an easy-to-read explanation of certain scripture passages that are organized into various topics or in a few cases shows you where more information on that topic can be found in scripture.
Actual scripture passages are grouped by topics pointing out some of the hidden meanings, symbolisms, prophecies fulfilled, and pointing out scripture proofs. Actual scripture responses of typical questions are provided to assist in defending the Catholic faith. Also, scripture passages are organized by certain key words to provide a reference for a better understanding of scripture. It includes an explanation of the apostles, disciples, early church fathers, brief history of the Catholic Church, and a chronological list of popes that all contributed to the many proofs and growth of the Catholic Church through apostolic succession.
Scripture quotations herein are mostly from the New American Bible (NAB), unless otherwise noted, and they are bold and italicized so one can easily recognize the actual scripture quotation. Quotations other than from scripture may be just italicized. In some cases, some words or phrases may be underlined, as emphasis added, to show its importance or may be further explained elsewhere. Many scripture passages have more than one meaning; therefore, you will find some duplication of certain passages under different topic headings.
In the course of the research for the various subjects herein, through reading articles and commentaries of the bible, there was some difficulty understanding what the author was trying to convey, which lead to additional research. So, the difficulty of understanding some writings prompted me to write about certain scripture topics in everyday common layperson’s language that I understood and hopefully you will also understand. In a few cases some theological words are used, which are immediately defined.
I am somewhat of an analytical type of personality and tend to write the facts and to write in bullet type of statements rather than flowery paragraphs with a lot of unnecessary words. This method may come across to some people as rather “curt”, it is not intended that way, it is just intended to be factual and to the point.
There are over 170 different topics covered herein which are intended to provide information to assist anyone with doubts by providing multiple proofs within Scripture. It is hoped that this will be used as a reference guide.
