The Father’s Love ~ God Loves Me!
How well do you know Father God? What is He like? What does He think of you?
The picture you have in your head and in your heart about your Heavenly Father is an important issue in your life! If you have an incomplete or erroneous picture of the Father, you will not walk in the abundant measure of Love, Peace and Joy that is meant for all of us who are children of Father God.
Use the scriptures on the pages that follow to further bring understanding of the true nature of our Father. We can also expect the life of Jesus will show us what our Father in heaven is like. Jesus was the image of God. (Colossians 1:15).
For us to feel loved is a normal part of our relationship with our heavenly Father. He wants us to know and to experience How Very Much He Loves Us!
I John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!
Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? (Malachi 2:10).
When Adam and Eve were created, they immediately had a Loving Father. They immediately had a Peaceful Home called The Garden of Eden. The two of them flourished in that atmosphere. They were dependent on their Father, living in fellowship and obedience to Him. Life was good!
After partaking of the forbidden fruit, they hid themselves in fear and shame from the Father. They used fig leaves to cover themselves. All as a result of wanting to “be like God.” The most profound result of their disobedience was when they had to leave their Father and their Home. That’s when they became orphans.
An orphan is someone who doesn’t have a father or a home. Every orphan hopes they will be adopted by a loving family.
We were adopted by Father God! He wanted us; He chose us! We are no longer orphans looking for a place of belonging to feel loved and valued! We are His much-loved children! Part of His great family!
The Father’s plan has always been to completely wipe away any “orphan spirit thinking” we may have. The cross demolished the sin barrier between us and the Father. Then, when we were born again, God gave us His Spirit to assure us that we were now part of His Family! We have a loving Father!!
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, Abba Father. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:15-16).
How many people do you know that do not have good memories of their earthly father? The prisons are full of them; many having no father. Father God wants to be that Father they didn’t have. In His Presence He wipes away tears and His love heals hurting hearts. In Your Presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11). Father knows how to restore our soul. (Psalm 23:3). Psalm 147:3 TPT says, He heals the wounds of every shattered heart.
My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? (Matthew 27:46). Jesus became an orphan in our place on the cross so we don’t ever have to be one!
Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord has appeared of old to me saying, “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.”
Before God made “time” as we know it, the Father’s heart was full of love for us. Let that truth sink in! He wants us to know His heart has always been to love us and to never stop loving us. He will not change His mind!
Some of us are better receivers of the Lord’s love. The Lord knows our hearts even better than we do. He wants to dialogue with us about hindrances that keep His love at arm’s length. His desire is to bring healing to us in those areas. Don’t be shy about committing your soul to a faithful Creator (1 Peter 4:19). He is the very best heart/soul doctor! The power of His love amazingly heals the most damaged heart.
What we have experienced in our growing-up years can put a hindrance or block to fully embracing the love of the Father. The Lord simply wants us to come to Him for a heart-healing. That’s His specialty! Damaged and flawed people are the ones He has! And those are exactly the ones He wants to touch and restore us with His Healing Love. Don’t wait until you are perfect to be open with Him about past hurts and pain. He is the “mender of broken hearts” and the “lifter of our heads!” Our God is a tender and gracious Restorer!
How do we see ourselves? Do we use our past to determine our identity? My faults and failings were put onto Jesus on the cross, along with everything I don’t like about myself! I am a new creation! (2 Corinthians 5:17). Father stands ready to give me, and all of us, the good things that will replace all negatives. Jesus lives inside of us and He will help us receive the Father’s healing love. May our capacity increase to receive the goodness and love He wants to give to us. His love is uplifting and it heals our hurting places. We are drawn to Him because we trust His love wants only the best for us.
What an amazing difference the Father has made in our lives! Where we had anxiety and fear, He replaced it with His peace. Where there was loneliness, He brought comfort and His sweet Presence. When we didn’t know what to do next, He showed us the way.
I will turn their mourning into joy, will comfort them, and make them rejoice rather than sorrow. …And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the Lord (Jeremiah 31:13-14). You and I shall be satisfied too!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Every one of us (saint and sinner) has been touched by the amazing love of God! This kind of love is unique because it only comes from God. It wasn’t until Jesus demonstrated the God-kind of love with His life, that we have an awareness of how God loves us. The words Jesus spoke and the deeds that He did were done because of love. Jesus shows us the heart of the Father.
God gave for a reason: to have man restored back to Himself. All because of His great love for us, not because we deserved it.
What are some of the characteristics of such an amazing love?
* This kind of love is unconditional, given freely
* It does not depend on the worthiness of the recipient
* It is given to everyone, no one is excluded
* It is a love by choice, an act of the will
* God’s love always seeks the highest good for every person
* It does not ask for anything in return, not even a thank you
* This love is known and used in the Christian community
God SO LOVED that HE GAVE. God is telling us by example that Loving and Giving go together! That’s one thing we keep in mind when relating to one another. There are many ways
