Description

Discover how to look to your heart to discern when a thought is from the Lord or the enemy and arm yourself to defeat Satan.
The apostle Paul talks about the spiritual warfare we fight daily—not weekly, monthly, or even yearly, but every day of our lives.
Paul speaks about us wrestling not against flesh and blood but principalities and powers. Ephesians 6:12 (ESV) states, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
In this book, the author explores matters of the heart, observing that we can’t see what we are fighting against—it’s invisible. We must connect to our hearts and draw closer to God to see better spiritually and know when a thought is from the Lord or the enemy.
One way to do this is through daily prayer and reading the Bible, and the author highlights various Scriptures that will help you engage in spiritual warfare, defeat Satan, and move closer to the Lord.
The battle you must wage will not end until Jesus Christ comes back for you. In the meantime, you must put on the armor of God and follow your heart.

Introduction
T he purpose of this book is to help us to understand our hearts a little better. Our hearts can think and help us understand our emotions more than we realize. They are not just organs in our bodies that pump and circulate blood; there is more to it. I have always believed that our hearts can think and influence our lives in many ways. That gut feeling warning us against the evil coming our way stems from the heart. I will be referencing a book I have been reading on and off for several years. The title captured my imagination. This book is called The HeartMath Solution and it was written by Doc Childre, Howard Martin, and Donna Beech. They have studied the heart for many years, dating back to the 1990s, and have come to several conclusions. One is that the heart has a brain, and it is intelligent. They have studied the heart and its inner workings for many years and have tested their findings in the secular world. I am so glad that God led me to this book, and I want to share it with you.
These doctors use many passages from the Bible in the book, which surprised me because not many medical professionals use or base facts on faith. If you know of or have visited a doctor like this, you are lucky to have a doctor who understands that God controls everything. I have never visited a doctor who said, “Thank God the medicine I prescribed worked.”
I am here to match their findings with faith Bible references. I will be connecting their findings to the spiritual realm that the human eye can’t see but which certainly affects our thoughts, actions, and reactions every day of our lives through our hearts. Everything will be referenced in many scriptures.
The apostle Paul talks about the spiritual warfare we fight daily—not weekly, monthly, or even yearly, but every day of our lives. Paul speaks about us wrestling not against flesh and blood but principalities and powers. Ephesians 6:12 (ESV) states, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” We can’t see what we are fighting against; it’s invisible. We must connect to our hearts and draw closer to God to see better spiritually and know when a thought is from the Lord or the enemy. One way is by daily prayer and reading of the Bible. Throughout this book, you will see certain scriptures referred to multiple times. This is so that we do not forget their importance in helping us fight the spiritual warfare in which we are involved. This ongoing battle will not end until Jesus comes back for us, His church. You must put on the whole armor of God daily, as it talks about in the book of Ephesians 6:11–17 (KJV).
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
This passage tells us what to do to be able to fight our battles. We must put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, and the helmet of salvation, and take up the sword of the Spirit. Learning about your heart will teach you who you are and what type of attitude you should have toward people and the world in general. You will find this book easy to understand.
CHAPTER 1
God’s Heart
G od loved us so much that he sent his Son Jesus to this earth, where he was crucified and died for the sins of humanity. There are many things in the Bible we don’t understand; we need to pray and ask God to reveal them to us. His word is spiritual food, and we are flesh. We need the revelation of the Word because we are not always in spiritual frames of mind. James 1:5 (NIV) says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Here, James talks about wisdom. If we lack wisdom, we can ask God, and he will give it to us. We should learn how to study our Bibles and use concordances to help us understand what God is trying to show us in his Word. God has a heart according to his Word. In the book of Genesis, we can see that God has a heart. God was the creator of the first man, Adam, and his wife Eve. They were both without sin until they were deceived by Satan in the garden God created for them. As a parent, if your child does something wrong, it grieves your heart. When Adam and Eve sinned, I am sure it grieved God’s heart. Here is the first example where God’s heart must have been filled with pain because Adam, whom he created in his image, decided to eat the fruit of the tree that had been forbidden to them. Eve offered the fruit from the tree of life to Adam, and he ate the fruit even though God had told them not to eat from that tree. They could eat of any other tree but that one. I don’t blame it all on Eve; the Bible doesn’t say where Adam was during the conversation Eve had with the serpent, but I’m sure he had to be nearby in the garden since they were the only two there. They both ended up sinning, and we know what happened next. The woman would bear the pain during childbirth, and the man would toil and work for the rest of his life. Then we read in Genesis 6:5–8 (KJV),
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repented that I have made man. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
