Description

What is this peace that can be given unto us? In a world that seemingly is at war within itself, if we could just find peace, i.e., spiritual peace. But that may demand we enter a deeper placement within ourselves, even giving up our current belief structure and comfort zone. Is this why there are so few takers?Author Bio: Christopher Alan Anderson (1950 - ) received the basis of his education from the University of Science and Philosophy, Swannanoa, Waynesboro, Virginia. He resides in the transcendental/romantic tradition, that vein of spiritual creativity of the philosopher and poet. His quest has been to define and express an eternal romantic reality from which a man and a woman could together stand in their difference and create a living universe of procreative love. Mr. Anderson began these writings in 1971. The first writings were published in 1985. On a personal note, when Mr. Anderson was asked to describe the writings and what he felt their message was he responded, "Spiritual procreation. Mankind has yet to distinguish the two sexes on the spiritual level. In this failure lies the root of our problems and why we cannot yet touch the eternal together. The message of man and woman balance brings each of us together in love with our eternal other half right now."

I must confess, I have had my sh a re of anguish in my heart. It was the y e ar 1971, I believe, th a t I was (spi r i tuall y ) told that everything I had b e en told about the world was really not h ow it was at all, and that my task was to reconfigure things to what was real. Oh, what anguish, what toil, what h e artache. I can ' t even tell you . ..what is one to do? And so, over the m a ny years, I have of t e n wonde r ed, where is the peace? Might not I have peace in my heart, and if not I, given this task, then w h o?

In John 14:27 of the Bible Jesus is speaking. He says, Peace I lea v e wit h you, my peac e I giv e unto y ou: not as t he world giveth, giv e I unto you. Let not you r he a r t be t r ou b led, neithe r let i t be afraid. There is al s o another v e rse a l ong this same t h eme. John 14:1 says:

Let not you r heart b e troubled: ye b elie v e in God, belie v e also in me. For the moment I want to focus on a part of the first verse, m y peac e I giv e unto you: n ot as th e world gi v eth, give I unto you. What is this peace ( my peac e ) that is n o t the world's p e ace? This is an important question.

It would seem that Jesus is speaking of a deeper peace, a peace that l i te r ally is not found in this world. Is this so m e t y pe of spiri t ual peace? Ano t her questi o n is, is this peace somehow limited to just Jesus? T he second verse listed would s u ggest that-- ye believe in God, believ e also i n me. Chris t ia n s belie v e that i t is on l y through Jesus t hat true pea c e (salvation) is to be found. Oth e r religions may disagree with that. Perhaps peace can also be found in t h e “Eternal I AM” of E a stern thought. Perhaps religio n s are a hoax and tru e reality is only to be found in t he natu r al l aw view of the secular hum a nist or atheist. T h e problem we have here is how we can get und e rn e ath th i s to have a cl e ar look. There perhaps is a problem with religi o ns i n that they leave us in a position o f worship. Worship (devoti o n to a deity) is g e nerally fr o m lower to higher. If we worship Jesus, for e x ample, we a re basically saying that Jesus is above us. Jesus is the supreme or superior or so ve rei g n that we a r e to worship (and gain favor) because we a r e “humanly” not those th i n g s. We are the si n ner, the less than. We are the ones to bow down and pray to t h
