Today, Nicolas was especially happy because it is his sister Julie’s birthday. A party was to be held to celebrate the great event that afternoon.
Garlands, balloons, streamers and flowers had invaded the house and announced the arrival of the young guests. Pretty embroidered tablecloths dressed tables that would, in time, host multiple delicacies concocted by the children’s mother. Delicious sandwiches, appetizers and various canapés were being made in the kitchen. Nicolas and Julie were finishing the decoration of the living room and the terrace, hanging the last balloons, when they divined the delicate scent of birthday cake baking in the oven. The exquisite smell that permeated the house was Julie’s favorite dessert.
— Oh Nicolas, it’s wonderful! Mum has prepared this delicious chocolate cake flavoured with orange – Julie exclaimed.
