Description

We are now more concerned with efficiency than destiny, speed than direction, following crowd than original purpose, non-essentials disconnect us from the essentials of life, ephemeral instead of eternal, and creations in place of the creator. God is calling individuals, families, cooperations, organisations, governments, and nations to stop for realignment back to His original standard.

Praise has shared in her books the need for us to stop and recalibrate our inner compass, especially during challenging times. As Christians, the darkness, trials, trauma, crisis, and challenges that are meant for evil can be used for our upgrade. We could lose direction if we don’t stop and realign. Jesus is always calling the Church to realign to its purpose; to shine the light into the world. Many think that if they stop and reset, the world will stop spinning. No, it won’t! The coronavirus and racism and pandemic have slowed down the world. Recalibrating is inevitable when navigating a time like this. She spiced every chapter of this book with her testimonies of how she was recalibrating during tough moments.

INTRODUCTION
“ This is about going back to God’s original measuring stan dard” .
Choosing recalibrating as my title was a bit dramatic. I was ready to write and I was asking God for what was on His mind for the people at the moment. I had lots of topics that were really personal to me and was eager to write on. However, my calling was to write after God’s heartbeat for the people.
In the place of retreat, I was ready to listen to him but instead I heard a whisper that he wanted me to be at a conference that weekend instead of having a personal retreat. I know it when that still quiet voice comes very low but firm. I finished work at 11:00pm, got home 11:30pm. I went for my phone and googled “ Christian conference” and “ This weekend ”. I stumbled on Australia eventbrite.com.au. I chose conference this weekend and two conferences came up: Esther feast and another. Despite my reservations, I had the prompting to choose Esther feast. I concluded my registration by 12:20am.
During the conference, the three speakers were awesome, each coming from different angles which impacted me. I will return to it later in this book. However, during the question and answer session, I knew the reason why I was there because a wind was blowing for the church to change their mindset in order to occupy for the Kingdom. My heart burnt within me as it was discussed that as Christians, we should take God into our work places. I wanted to contribute with almost same passion but God prompted me to listen to the others.
It was obvious to me as people spoke about Jesus telling the church to go and preach the gospel; but the church is expecting the people to come. The wind of change was blowing on the Church yet again and there was critical need for believers to evaluate that which God requires of the body of Christ at such a time as this.
How does a change of mind-set affect our understanding of ministry in this dispensation of grace, and propel us to occupy for the kingdom? There was a feeling of heaviness within me as discussions wrapped around reconditioning our thinking as Christians, reflecting God in our workplaces without wearing the cloak of religion. There were exciting perspectives from participants, and soon it became more evident to me what the Lord Jesus was saying to the Church…“stop playing Church.” But we keep expecting the people to come over to Church as leaders and administrators fixated with activities that keep members within spatial confines of their buildings. Many spoke from perspectives different from mine, and I saw the wisdom of God in listening than talking. However, I left the meeting with an idea of what to write about, without a title.
The meeting was such a divine set up for me. One of the speakers spoke about a revelation God gave her about the body of Christ coming back to the real purpose of her calling; and that presently everyone is setting up little Babylons but God is calling for unity of the body for Kingdom purpose. I remembered a similar message came to the church through my book titled “Lamb of God” which was published in 2012. The speaker doubted the message until she had a personal encounter with Jesus in 2016. As she relayed the message I was edified, encouraged and grateful for the new passion and burden which the Pastor now had for the body of Christ, in line with the desire of Jesus. What a transformation! The will of God has to be done on earth as it is in heaven? She quit being a Pastor to set up a vibrant prayer house which is open twenty-four hours in Melbourne. It is a refreshing testimony for me that God is doing what He promised to do in the nation.
The program finished earlier than scheduled. I went back home with the spark and started my retreat. While I was praying in the Spirit, I heard very clearly, “the title of your next book is RECALIBRATING”. I knew this literally meant re-calibrate, re-set of spirit soul and body for better outcomes. This is about going back to God’s original measuring standard. I perceived God was up to something serious.
In revelation 10:10–11:1“Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter. And he said to me, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.” Then there was given me a measuring rod like a staff; and someone said, “Get up and measure the temple of God and the altar, and those who worship i n it.”
John the beloved, in a revelation on the Island of Patmos was given a little book to eat and was asked to prophesy, then he was given measuring a rod to measure. This picture depicts the word of God eaten, spoken and an instrument to measure the temple of God before judgement. I know God wants us to examine ourselves and see what is wrong so we can come back to His standard. If there is deviation, he doesn’t want us to miss our purpose.
“Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.” Psalm 73:23–24
David in Ps 73:1-17’ was confused about the prosperity of the wicked and the persecution of the righteous such that he was almost drifted about God’s goodness. Out of his distress, he penned his frustration; until he had time to go into the temple of God, the presence of God, recalibrate his mind back to the real end; that the saints will be vindicated eternally and the wicked will be punished. The presence of God recalibrated him back to divine standards. Then in verse 22-24 he realised his foolishness, he repented and asked God to continually, guide and counsel him and then receive him in to glory. He realised that the ultimate benefit is getting to be with God in eternity.
The key steps to David’s recalibration are highlighted in Ps 73:23-24
1. Finding time to be in God’s presence
2. Releasing our hand for him to hold us.
3. Listening continually to his guidance and counsel.
4. Receiving us to eternity.
Everyone gets to a time when trials appear overwhelming and questions without answers come throbbing and weariness begins to set in, this is the time to “get away with God”, to recalibrate and reset.
If there is anyone that understands calibrating, I am one. As a medical scientist we perform tests which form a part of major decisions of the physician for the patient’s treatment. To prevent inaccurate results, all instruments used in the laboratory are recalibrated according to manufacturer’s recommendation. This may be monthly, quarterly, or annually as needed.
According to the dictionary, recalibration means to rectify, correct, change, standardize or adjust precisely against a standard. The Cambridge English dictionary says it is to make small changes to an instrument.
In science, recalibration is the procedure of returning an instrument to ordinary measuring standard with precision and accuracy that is traceable to general national
