Description

These words symbolize a desire to spread inspiration and courage; in particular, to let people know that their voice is not only important but essential in our collective evolution. To speak one’s truth requires a fearless act of listening and this book represents an echo into that deep surrendering.

Preface
I struggled while contemplating this manuscript. In fact, the same questions would circulate throughout the entire process. Am I worthy of writing this book? Will anyone understand what I am attempting to convey? Will these words put a target on my back? I will admit that the feeling of being exposed is oftentimes overwhelming…for being vulnerable to criticism and ostracized for my beliefs are deep triggers. As a result, I have spent most of my life hiding who I am…preferring the safe spaces of anonymity and the inconspicuous.
I am slowly learning, however, that life doesn’t value safety and comfort as much as it does exploration and bold experiences. The human experience is not about cowering in fear. We need ingenuity and courageous action to propel our nature to unfold in intricate and unexpected ways. This manuscript represents a courageous act to unleash my voice… and to let go of fears that have plagued me since childhood. I trust that Spirit will put this message in the hands of those who are ready to listen.

Dedication I
Some years ago I married a beautiful man. Steven was a gorgeous, tall, extreme athlete and an accomplished lawyer. He was kind and absolutely in love with me. Our marriage was a very good one, and we had a life of privilege. We traveled around the globe and our children thrived. We were happy and content. Then the tower began to crumble and burn. I am referring to the burning Tower Tarot Card, which commonly represents danger, crisis, and destruction.
Steve was diagnosed with a terminal brain disease. Immediately he lost his job because he could not practice as a lawyer due to liabilities. As a result, our lives were thrust into utter chaos. Though I was employed, he was the major breadwinner and I could not continue to support our lifestyle. In addition, because we caught his brain disease late, he had made numerous financial errors that further contributed to our financial crisis. So necessity required us to start selling off all of our possessions. We sold the houses, the boat, the cars, everything. Adding to the situation was the knowledge that he would also slowly lose his capacity to think, control his bodily movements, and eventually die. The tower was burning fiercely.
Over a seven year period, my amazing husband who was Type A, driven, stubborn, extremely intelligent, and ultimately a major achiever, lost everything that he had worked for his entire life. He could no longer work as an attorney, he had to sell his belongings, and he lost his ability to control his bodily functions. He finally was unable to find the words to speak because his brain simply lost the neural pathways to do so. Eventually, he even forgot my name and our memories disappeared from his consciousness.
However, despite all these difficult transitions, and before he lost his capacity to communicate, something absolutely beautiful began to take shape. My husband, who was angry at God for allowing his first wife to die in a car crash, began to forgive. He began to connect with himself and took enormous emotional and spiritual steps toward wholeness. We blossomed as a couple and our love grew exponentially.
We bonded deeply and profoundly. While the burning tower took away many things, it also gave us the insight to stay in the moment and enjoy the time we had left. It forced us to face our individual demons and we grew emotionally and spiritually at a far greater speed than we would have if the illness had not occurred. I see it as an incredible gift.
While I miss Steven “every damn day”, which are words he used often, I am grateful for all that has occurred. This book is dedicated to Steven, for the amazing gift his presence was in my life and continues to be even after his death. I have no doubt, and I am comforted by the knowledge that I will see him again when I pass beyond the veil.
Part I

This story begins with the small and large intestines. Both play an integral role in the assimilation and release of unnecessary material within the body. The small intestine receives processed food from the stomach as broken down liquids…and then discerns which liquids go to the large intestine (clean)…and which go to the bladder (turbid). 1 This discernment is crucial as it creates a metaphysical example of separating experiences that are worthy of our attention…and ones that are simply run by mental presets. The small intestine is also the yang component of the fire element…meaning there is a joyful and assertive nature to this particular organ.
