Recently, I heard a prophetic word in which the Lord said, “Quit complaining about all the shaking, for this shaking is an answer to your prayers!”
This word challenged my perspective on all that is occurring in the earth today, but I had to embrace the message, as I was the one who had given it! What we see happening is not an economic crisis, nor a political crisis, but rather a spiritual crisis. I believe everything that can be shaken is being shaken so that only that which cannot be shaken will remain (see Hebrews 12:26-29).
This is evidence that the prayers of the saints of God are prevailing as a spiritual battle rages over nations and generations. Despite corporate failures, personal bankruptcies, political uncertainty, corruption in governments, natural disasters and moral decline, God is awakening His people to the power and authority given to us through His Word to bring change.
As God’s change agents in the earth, we must recognize that if things are going to shift in our families, cities and even nations, we are the ones God is anointing to implement such a shift. But this will only happen as we use strategic spiritual weapons through prayer, adopting an aggressive stance of dominion grounded in the mandate found in Scripture.
My family experienced this truth years ago when we relocated our ministry, Christian International, to a region in the Florida panhandle that was saturated with a spirit of witchcraft and poverty. Within a 10-mile radius of our property there were 10 identifiable cult groups, including Satanists, Santeria, witch’s covens, psychic healers and New Age gurus. It was as though God had dropped this little pioneering prophetic ministry into a land overrun by demonic forces and said, “fight or die.”
At the time, there wasn’t much teaching regarding spiritual warfare, so we searched the Word of God as the source of our victory and did on-the-job training to learn how to shift the spiritual atmosphere over our land. These evil strongholds resented our presence, but we were determined to push back the gates of hell and to create an open heaven over our area that would result in transformation for the glory of God’s kingdom. Through persistent prayer, aggressive praise and prophetic decrees, we began to see these cultic groups shut down or relocate to other areas. When they left, so did the spirit of poverty. God has brought change to this region because a group of believers determined to exercise the authority of Scripture through spiritual warfare to see it come forth.
That is why I am so grateful for my friends Quin Sherrer and Ruthanne Garlock, who had the foresight to create a manual to train prayer warriors for effective battle through using the power of God’s Word. The book you now hold in your hands, The Spiritual Warrior’s Prayer Guide , is a powerful and relevant tool for believers to maximize their spiritual potential to be change agents in the earth.
