Insights from Chapter 1

#1

We must recognize that the spirit realm plays a role in what occurs in our daily lives. It is not natural for people to be influenced, controlled, and used by the devil.

#2

It is not the person next to you at work or your neighbor who is really coming against you, but rather it is the spiritual influence behind those things that tick you off and bother you. When you adopt the biblical mindset, you will understand that it is not the physical battle, but rather the spiritual one.

#3

There are times when the devil speaks to you through people. He'll use people to get at you. rebuke him when he does.

#4

You must be able to discern which voice is coming from God and which is coming from the devil. Satan will use people to speak through, and you must be able to recognize his voice.

#5

You can stand against what people say with more tact than I did when I was young. The principle applies regardless of how you administer it.

#6

The spiritual battle is real, and it is happening all around us. We must learn to deal with it. The first time I tried to produce a book was about twenty years ago. It was my Life for Today—Gospels Edition study Bible and commentary, which is almost six hundred pages long.

#7

When I was robbed, I realized that it was not just a person trying to steal from me, but also the devil. I demanded my money back seven times, and as I continued to praise God, that situation never got me down or depressed.

#8

When you yield yourself to sin, you're serving Satan, who is the author of that sin. When you yield yourself to obedience, you serve God, who is the author of that righteousness.
Insights from Chapter 2

#1

The actions you take in this spiritual battle are extremely important. If you're speeding and causing a wreck, you'll be held accountable for your actions. But in the spiritual realm, there are no consequences.

#2

When you give place to anger and vent like that, Satan jumps on it like a chicken on a June bug. When you give in to anger and lose your temper, you are opening the door for the devil to come and steal, kill, and destroy.

#3

You must understand that we are in a spiritual battle. Your thoughts, attitudes, words, and actions are either releasing the power of God in your life, or they're releasing the power of the devil.

#4

The freedom of speech our country enjoys encourages us to voice our disagreement with politicians, but there is a right and wrong way to do it. You can disagree without putting a person to shame with the words you say.

#5

You must set a watch before your mouth and take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. You must control your actions and recognize that the demonic realm is constantly trying to steal, kill, and destroy you.

#6

Sin is conceived in your emotions. When you have a negative emotion, such as sadness, anger, fear, strife, or one of many others, you are allowing something that you don’t want to happen to you. But you allow these negative emotions to flow through you without recognizing that we are in a spiritual battle.
