#1

The Bible tells a beautiful story of how God welcomes us when we come to him. It is the well-known story of the Prodigal Son, who had strayed away from home, wasted all his living, and gotten himself into real deep trouble. When he came to the end of all his resources, he thought of returning home.

#2

When we pray, we are not to be scolding or stern, but loving and warm. God gives generously, without finding fault. When we pray, we should represent God to humanity.

#3

The Bible is full of promises that God will answer our prayers. In fact, the Bible says that everything we ask in prayer, believing, we will receive.

#4

To experience the joy of receiving your prayers answered, ask God for them. The fact that God hears your individual prayers and responds to them is one of the most exciting experiences you can have.

#5

Jesus made the most extreme intercession possible from the cross. He said, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do. He was also saying, The judgment that is due to them, let it come upon Me.

#6

The writer of Hebrews gives us further insight into Jesus’ ongoing ministry: He has been behind the second veil, the Holy of Holies, for nearly 2,000 years.

#7

When we read about Jesus entering the second veil as a priest after the order of Melchizedek, we are told that the heavenly order is the king and the priest. On earth, it is exciting to be an apostle or a prophet. But behind the second veil, Jesus is also King.

#8

The role of a priest is to offer sacrifices. People can’t approach God with a sacrifice or an offering unless they are a priest. Priests are the only ones authorized to offer sacrifices to God.

#9

The writer of Hebrews states that Jesus did not come from the tribe of Levi, meaning he did not have the right to offer the sacrifices of the Levitical priest. Instead, Jesus had a different kind of priesthood, and that priesthood is described in Hebrews 6–7.

#10

We are meant to be kings and priests in God’s Kingdom. We are not meant to be kings without offering sacrifices, and we are not meant to be priests without praying.

#11

Prayer is a powerful tool that can be used to help you reach your goals. It is not easy to pray, but it is very practical. We will learn how to approach God, complying with the basic conditions for answered prayer.
Insights from Chapter 2

#1

Prayer is one of the greatest opportunities, privileges, and ministries available to Christians. It is through prayer that we seek to take our place in God’s Kingdom of priests.

#2

The first condition for approaching God is reverent submission. This is what Jesus displayed during His earthly life when He prayed to the Father.

#3

The requirement to say Your will be done is to renounce our own will and embrace the will of God. It is the will of God that must be allowed to have free course when the two wills conflict.
