Insights from Chapter 1
#1
The Greek word for saint is hagios, and it refers not to one’s character but to a state of being. Every believer is a saint, even the most ordinary and the most immature.
#2
Every true believer is a saint, set apart by God. The biblical meaning of the word saint is someone who has been purchased by Christ with His own blood and has been separated unto God to be transformed into the image of His Son.
#3
It is not always easy for saints to live up to their calling. We are saints, but we are not perfect. We have desires that are against the Spirit, and those desires are opposed by the flesh to keep us from doing what we want to do.
#4
The Bible has a word for saintly conduct that is unbecoming. It is sin. We often fail to see our own sin, but we must realize that we are saints, and therefore responsible for living as saints.
