#1

The experience confirmed my theological convictions about the supernatural realm. It was also a lesson about the consequences of entering spiritual battle unprepared.

#2

The reality of the supernatural realm is not always holy and helpful. It is often demented and destructive. I had come into contact with the domain of darkness, and I intend to explore this realm in this book.

#3

The existence of demons is not in question, as they are mentioned numerous times in the Bible. But many people resist the idea of evil spiritual beings because they believe that such beings do not exist in reality.

#4

The extent of Satan’s influence in our world is often underestimated by Christians. We rarely give consideration to the fact that Satan exists and operates with authority in the spiritual realm, and it is from bondage to this darkness that Christ has set us free.

#5

The fact is, everyone belongs to one of two kingdoms: the kingdom of light or the kingdom of darkness. If people are not in Christ, they are in the power of the devil - even if they have no visible, sensible awareness of being in the devil’s grip.

#6

The author contrasts Christians with the heretics, and he compares the spiritual forces who are in the respective antagonists. The he who is in the Christian is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

#7

Many Christians do not know what the Bible says about the subject, and they have not been acquainted with the tactics of the enemy. This ignorance has contributed to most Christians’ lack of preparedness.

#8

Many argue that the Bible is irrelevant for our day, because we have progressed far beyond the pre-scientific era. They argue that no reasonably educated person would rely on an outdated book to formulate their worldview.

#9

While it is true that the victory Jesus secured in his death and resurrection has forever sealed the eternal fate of Satan and his demonic hosts, protection against demonic attack is not automatic for Christians.

#10

Some Christians do not prepare for spiritual warfare because they believe that any level of study on the subject is imbalanced. Sadly, many Christians are so cynical about demonstrations of spiritual power that any expression of concern for the demonic is unsettling to them.

#11

Some Christians believe that stressing spiritual warfare might lead to an unbalanced, experience-oriented theology centered on the spectacular. However, the abuses of some should never justify our turning a blind eye to the pervasive reality of the spiritual enemies that oppose us.

#12

The conflict between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan influences how we use our money, what we watch on TV or online, how we raise our kids, and how we talk about our bosses when they aren’t listening.

#13

The excesses and extremes of certain deliverance ministries have done damage to legitimate attempts to bring freedom to those who are truly oppressed by the enemy.

#14

The majority of Westerners believe that every effect has a physical cause. The biblical worldview, on the other hand, is thoroughly supernatural. God controls physical phenomena and all so-called natural laws. Angels do his bidding. Demons actively and energetically oppose his kingdom.

#15

The existence of angels and demons is difficult to believe for many people, and this is often due to the fact that it goes against their secular, anti-supernatural mindset.

#16

Forgiveness is important, because it allows us to release what we’re holding onto as unforgiveness, which allows God to heal us and take care of the person who hurt us.

#17

The existence of demons is believed by 74 percent of cultures surveyed in a world ethnographic research project. This study is dated 1976. Perhaps the percentage of belief has changed in the last forty-five years.

#18

The Bible clearly and repeatedly says that Satan exists. We must understand who he is and the threat he poses.

#19

The serpent in the Garden of Eden is not a mere animal but a divine being that is cast as creaturely. He is not an overt invitation to sin, but rather a question about what seems to be an innocent question: Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden.

#20

The serpent, disguised as a blessing, tries to convince humans to follow him in forsaking their creaturely dependence on the Creator and to form their own opinion about truth without appeal to God’s revelation.

#21

The two-fold curse on the serpent/Satan tells us a lot about him. It says that he will be cursed above all livestock and above all beasts of the field, and that he will crawl on his belly and eat dust all the days of his life.

#22

The story of Adam and Eve shows that Satan will always try to know more about God than God himself has revealed. He will claim to have special insight into God’s motives for a command or a prohibition, and he will lead you to believe that God has ulterior motives in what he has designed that will deprive you of blessings.

#23

Satan was originally an angel, but he fell from heaven when he rebelled against God. He is not eternal, and he is not God’s equal and opposite power. He is a finite creature who was created by God.

#24

The taunt in Isaiah 14:12–15 is against the king of Babylon, and it describes how he is fallen from heaven, how he is cut down to the ground, and how he said in his heart that he would ascend to heaven. But he is brought down to Sheol, the far reaches of the pit.

#25

The passage describes the fall of the guardian cherub Satan from the mountain of God. It suggests that the king of Tyre was an anointed cherub who covered, and that he was blameless in his ways until unrighteousness was found in him.

#26

The king of Tyre is being compared to Adam in verse 13, and it is argued that the description of the king of Tyre in Ezekiel simply cannot be exhausted by reference to just one earthly figure. The real motivating force behind the king of Tyre was the adversary, Satan.

#27

The Bible gives no clear answer to when Satan fell. Some argue that it could not have been prior to the sixth day of Genesis 1, since everything in God’s creation until that time was said to have been very good.

#28

The book of Job is a prime example of how Satan works. It explains that Satan is the one who accuses God of having bought Job’s loyalty with health and wealth. But it is God who sets the boundaries for what Satan can do.

#29

The ruler of the power of the air is Satan, and he is working in the sons of disobedience, who are all unbelievers. In some way, they have come under the controlling influence of Satan.

#30

Satan is the god of this age and the evil one. He is the destroyer, the accuser, and the deceiver. He is a liar and a murderer, and a master of misrepresentation.

#31

Satan has a plan to undermine the church. He energizes and exploits the most effective means to reach his diabolical ends, while avoiding all obstacles.

#32

There are two factors in spiritual blindness: fleshly, sinful resistance to the truth on the one hand, and satanic/demonic hardening or blinding on the other. Before we ever arrive on the scene with the gospel, Satan is exerting a stupefying influence on the mind of the unbeliever.

#33

When Satan interferes with missionary efforts, he may do so by causing the weather to become unfavorable. We must never be helpless when Satan attacks, but we must turn to prayer and ask for God’s intervention.

#34

We must never embrace the belief that every physical affliction is directly caused by the influence of Satan or a demon. Still, Peter’s words in Acts 10:38 are instructive: he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.

#35

In our second year in Kansas City, our nine-year-old daughter Joanna invited a friend over to spend the night. In her dream, a demonic spirit kicked in the front door of our house and began to make its way down the hall toward the bedrooms. Instead, it entered Joanna’s room and bit her friend.

#36

Satan is able to exploit any blemish on the reputation of a Christian leader. He tries to hold people captive to do his will by deceiving them to believe what is false and misleading.

#37

The fact that Satan can subject the loyalty of the followers of Jesus to severe tests that are designed to produce failure demonstrates just how intense the pressures he can apply are. However, he is limited in what he can do by what God permits and the intercession of Jesus on behalf of his own.

#38

Satan is the enemy of God and man, and he seeks to destroy both. He is the accuser of the Christian, performs signs and wonders to deceive the nations, and seeks to silence the witness of the church.

#39

My journey began with me meeting with three godly women who were committed to facilitating my inner healing and deliverance. I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma, and my story begins at age five, when my parents divorced. I was raped and molested by a family member at the age of six, which led to various emotional, mental, and family relationship struggles.

#40

The serpent in the Garden of Eden was an image commonly used in reference to a divine throne guardian. Satan’s authority is related to God’s assignment of a variety of angels to rule over the nations of the earth. But this rule was corrupted by the sinful actions of these angels, and was overcome by the life, death, resurrection, and exaltation of Christ.

#41

The author of Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28, respectively, is referring to a human leader and a supernatural inspiration behind him. The extravagant language is not exhausted by reference to the king of Babylon or the king of
