INTRODUCTION
True blessing is a treasure found in God. Therefore, cannot be found in by-ways or high-ways nor after a sneeze, as we seem to think. God dispenses it to those who care to adhere to his terms and conditions. Hence, not everyone who claims to be blessed truly is! Of course many are deceived in believing they are blessed, based on their possessions, wealth, status, academics, number of children, employment or their skills, whilst those without such incentives, seem to believe they are cursed or unfortunate, which is never the case. In this manuscript, biblical references are utilized, to debunk such misconceptions.
CHAPTER 1

THE BLESSING IS NOT ABOUT WEALTH OR POSSESSIONS
Wealth, possessions or even a good harvest of crops can by acquired by hard work and good planning. Others too, may carry out wicked schemes to acquire wealth;
‘Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way , because of the man who bring wicked schemes to pass’ (Psalms 37:7 NKJV)
We also ought to understand that, what we deem as riches or wealth may be perceived differently by God. For, it is only God who has the capacity to identify all things for what they truly are.
Precisely, I can only imagine the shock that ran down the spine of one of the seven churches addressed, by the Lord Jesus Christ in the book of Revelations.
They were by human standards, materially well off. Yet Jesus informed the angel of the church, to convey the message;
‘Because you say, “I am rich, have become wealthy and have need of nothing” and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked, I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in fire, that you may be rich and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see’ (Revelation 3: 17-18 NKJV)

Implying, the Laodiceans had grown complacent. For, they had gone after and acquired a lot of the material riches, to their hearts’ contend. They had somehow forgotten that the church’s mission was and still is to enrich the spirit.
Nevertheless, Jesus was not impressed. I would want to believe he was not amused because, though off his standards, they had the audacity to brag about their riches. They were spiritually deprived and yet assumed they had it all.
The problem is, they had settled for the comfort of the flesh, neglecting the spiritual connection with God.
Subsequently, they had landed into a spiritual depravity. A state equivalent to misery, blindness, poverty and nudity before God. Had the Lord Jesus Christ not revealed their state, they could have perished in ignorance.
Likewise, many in our era, err in assuming, material well-being is equivalent to spiritual well-being. Worse still, when they, due to ignorance consider themselves ‘blessed’.
Only God is capable of vetting the real state of our spirituality and render the accurate report. Hence, concluded his statements to the churches;
‘He, who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches’ (Revelation 3:22 NKJV) .
Implying, some would still choose to turn a deaf ear. Continuing to play down the accurate feedback, would have meant one has chosen to maintain their own way or their own understanding.
Turning a deaf ear for the Laodiceans would have meant, preferring to remain naked. Subsequently God would have turned his back against them.
Nakedness is portrayed in three ways in the scriptures. Literal nakedness as in nudity;
‘… naked came I out of my mother’s womb and naked shall I return thither…. ’ ( Job 1:21 KJV).
Then;
Nakedness as in being uncovered or revealed, as used in the verse;
‘Hell is naked before him and destruction hath no covering ’ ( Job 26:6 KJV)
Nakedness as in the state we conform to, when we give in to sin, as in the case with Adam and Eve. The latter is the state the Laodiceans had gotten into.
Prior to sinning against God, Adam and Eve walked naked and felt no shame. God their creator had no issues with their nakedness either. However when they bought into the serpent’s deception, along came shame and embarrassment.
Breaking God’s instruction to not eat of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil opened their eyes to the awareness that they were naked.
Implying if they had stuck to God’s instruction, they would have remained pure-minded and dignified.
Instead, breaching the rule stripped them of their God-given dignity and the desire to be with God. For after being deceived, they sought fig leaves and sewed them to cover their nudity. That alone was the beginning of human struggles.
For they did not realize what they chose as the solution, was temporary and a potential prick in the flesh. Had God not intervened with leather coverings, they were forever going to spend a chunk of their lifetime, sourcing for fresh leaves, to replace the withered or dried.
Likewise riches are temporary as stated in this verse;
‘Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven (Proverbs 23: 5KJV).
As stated earlier Adam and Eve also lost the desire to fellowship with God, after the serpent’s interception. Explaining why, God found the meeting place vacant when he turned up for their regular meetings. They had gone into hiding. Their perception of God had suddenly changed from friendly to scary. Their yearning for God was marred by the guilt of shame.
Ever since then, humanity feels distanced from God. As a result many of us have departed away to several hiding places, including the mire, deep waters, nets, snares and horrible pits.
Hence the need to cry out to the very same God as David the Psalmist did;
‘ Deliver me out of the mire and let me not sink: Let me be delivered from them that hate me and out of the deep waters (Psalm 69:1 4KJV)
The Laodeceans had fallen for the love of riches and possessions, leading to spiritual nudity. No wonder Jesus advised them to buy garments and gold from him. He was not referring to the physical garments and the physical gold, bearing in mind they already had acquired material riches.
Note, Jesus pointed them to himself as the garment and gold provider. Why? Because the spiritual blessing is found in Him as stated;

‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love, having predestined us to
