Description

Welcome, fellow Watchman to the Wall. There are over 6,000 prayer warriors lifting up requests to the LORD using His Word and The Watchman on the Wall, Volume 1 (WOW-1). Through God's leadership, we are excited to open another arsenal of 366 more Swords of the Holy Spirit for your use with The Watchman on the Wall, Volume 2 (WOW-2). God has called you to be a prayer warrior for the sake of others. Isaiah 62:6- 7 says God has appointed watchmen who all day and all night never keep silent. These watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem are constantly reminding the LORD to establish Jerusalem. The watchmen refuse to take any rest for themselves, and they refuse to give God any rest until He establishes and makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Who does God want you to constantly remind Him to establish and make their life a praise to Him? Just like the watchmen in Isaiah keep talking and talking to God about Jerusalem, you keep talking and talking to God about the people He wants you to watch over in prayer. Remind the LORD of His promises, of His good Word, of His good Name. Refuse to back down or take a break. As a watchman, appointed by God, continually intercede until God establishes your loved ones and makes them a praise in the earth. See from your place on the Wall the glory of the LORD as He answers your prayers and changes the landscape of eternity before your eyes in the lives of those you love.

W elcome fellow Watchman to the Wall. There are over 6,000 prayer warriors lifting up requests to the LORD using His Word and The Watchman on the Wall, Volume 1 (WOW-1). Through God’s leadership, we are excited to open another arsenal of 366 more Swords of the Holy Spirit for your use with The Watchman on the Wall, Volume 2 (WOW-2).
If the LORD permits, there will be a total of four WOW books to cover the entire Bible with prayers from each of the 1,189 chapters. This means there will be times when we write new prayer devotionals for books of the Bible previously covered. It is amazing how many prayers can be found in every chapter of God’s Word! In addition, the LORD has led us to bring in New Testament books to follow Old Testament books to give more complete understanding of His Word.
For example, you prayed Hebrews in WOW-1 as part of the 21 New Testament letters section. This time you will pray through Exodus and Leviticus and then go right into Hebrews. Hebrews will add “wow!” to your prayer time as you appreciate Jesus for fulfilling every aspect of the sacrificial system.
WOW-2 also has a special season of praise and worship, your “Summer of Psalms,” 100 days of praying Psalms 1 through 100. Finally, you will study and pray through 1 and 2 Samuel as you approach Christmas. You will see Jesus through God’s relationship with and promises to David. December ends with 1, 2, and 3 John preparing for Revelation in WOW-3.
Whether you are already familiar with praying as a Watchman on the Wall, or if you are just starting to take your place on the Wall, we hope the following words of encouragement and tips will help you pray. These ideas will make you a powerful prayer warrior as you stand firm in the LORD and His Word.
Pray the Word of God
Learn how to pray God’s Word for others. The Bible is the greatest prayer book ever written. It contains everything you would ever want or need to pray over someone.
For the next 366 days, you will mine the Word of God for treasure verses that you can pray for yourself and others. You will be able to say the words confidently because they will be the very words of God—containing His will over every situation. By the end of the year, you will be in the holy habit of finding Bible verses to pray, so for the rest of your life, you can constantly pray God’s Words back to Him.
Pray With God
Prayer is a gift and a privilege from the LORD. Have faith as you pray that God is greater than any issue of this world, that He cares about you, and He will answer your prayers. Praying is faith. “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him ” (Hebrews 11:6).
As you pray, seek the LORD. He loves it! As you go closer to Him, your faith will supernaturally grow as a result. It is amazing the God of all creation would not only give you permission to talk to Him, but would desire to converse with you as well, to be in intimate nonstop communication with you. Proverbs 3:32 says, “The Lord is intimate with the upright.” Intimate in this verse carries within its meaning the idea of sitting on a couch with a friend and engaging in rich personal conversation. God is drawing you into that kind of relationship with Him.
Pray with Context
For the devotions and prayers to be most fully understood, take the time to read the chapters in which they are written to get the best context for the prayers. If you do so faithfully, you will read nearly 1/3 of the Bible by the end of the year. The devotions flow directly through entire books of the Bible.
Pray at a Dedicated Time
If The Watchman on the Wall is your primary devotional for this year, then using it in the mornings can help tune you with the LORD before you walk through the rest of the day. Having your “connect with God time” only at night is like a violinist tuning their violin after the concert is over. Certainly, anytime with God is good and having dedicated prayers during many parts of the day is encouraged.
Pray Alone or With Others
If possible and fitting for your situation, consider praying with others, perhaps a friend or family member. We heard testimonies of couples married for over 50 years who began praying and reading their Bibles together for the first time with WOW-1! What a powerful team you will be! The prayers are easily modified to ‘we’ and ‘us’ in place of ‘ __________ and me.’
Pray with Persistence
God has called you to be a prayer warrior for the sake of others. Isaiah 62:6-7 says God has appointed watchmen who all day and all night never keep silent.
Pray Standing Firm and Faithful
Just like the watchmen in Isaiah keep talking and talking to God about Jerusalem, you keep talking and talking to God about the people He wants you to watch over in prayer. Remind the LORD of His promises, of His good Word, of His good Name. Refuse to back down or take a break. As a watchman, appointed by God, continually intercede until God establishes your loved ones and makes them a praise in the earth. See from your place on the Wall the glory of the LORD as He answers your prayers and changes the landscape of eternity before your eyes in the lives of those you love.
We pray this prayer from Colossians 1:9-12 for you:
For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the LORD, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light .
We thank the LORD for you,

J ANUARY

On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent. You who remind the LORD, take no rest for yourselves; And give Him no rest until He establishes And makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth . I SAIAH 62:6-7, NASB

J ANUARY 1

Please read Exodus 1.
Meditate on verse 17.

But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt had commanded them, but let the boys live .
Genesis ends with the death of Joseph (Genesis 50:26). Exodus begins by remembering Joseph’s death and fast-forwarding 400 years to the continuation of Israel’s story, one of enslavement to the Egyptians. Despite affliction and abuse, the Israelites multiplied, and the Egyptians dreaded them. In order to stop their population increase, the king of Egypt ordered Hebrew baby boys be put to death as they were being born. These horrific orders were given to two midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, who feared God more than they feared Pharaoh—they refused to kill the babies.
With whom do you identify from this chapter? Are you like the Egyptians in opposition to God’s work, or are you a Godly and courageous Shiphrah and Puah, willing to defy orders that are contrary to God’s Word?
As you desire to see God establish your family this year in His righteousness and holiness, be will
