Introduction
Words of Life was born out of a simple instruction from God that I received early one morning as I lay in bed partly awake. The guidance was simple: begin writing a weekly email devotional, and call it Words of Life . It lit up my heart as I gave my yes to God about this exciting new ministry outreach; I could anticipate the great blessings that God had in store for those who received them—and for me as His “delivery woman.” My writings have always been, and remain, an integral part of my ministry, and the devotionals would soon prove to be some of the most exciting yet.
From the very beginning, the responses and testimonies to God’s living truth, packaged in practical mini-capsules for study, reflection, encouragement, empowerment, transformation, and personal and spiritual growth, were heartwarming and humbling. It was heartwarming to hear from readers how the messages touched their lives in ways only God could have orchestrated, and humbling to be the vessel through whom He delivered them. (There’s nothing like being on assignment for God!) And it has been my immense thrill and honor to continue to share these powerful truths over the years and continue to see the impact that they are making on the lives of those who embrace them.
Shortly after I began writing the devotionals, a friend asked me how much time it usually took and how tenuous it was for me. I answered, “Oh, the messages usually flow out in a matter of minutes.” I went on to explain that they are born out of my walk with God and what He shows me and puts on my heart to share. You see, there’s nothing “manufactured” about the truths you’ll encounter within these pages. A personal devotion to God and His Word, and a desire to share powerful insights for living life as it is designed to be lived, underlies the truths that continue to speak life, light, healing, wisdom, and strength.
For what seems like forever now, I have also been asked when I would begin writing my own books. I’m very excited that the time—the due season—has finally arrived. I am thrilled for you to have these powerful truths for navigating through life’s ups and downs in total victory.
Throughout Words of Life , you will encounter devotionals that address our spiritual lives, our relationships, our finances, and more—all backed by power confessions that enable you to proclaim God’s truth over your life.

The Untouchables
No misfortune is in sight for Jacob; no trouble is in store for Israel. For the Lord their God is with them; he has been proclaimed their king. … No curse can touch Jacob; no sorcery has any power against Israel.

T he Word of God reveals that God has blessed His people with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. It also teaches us that because of our place in Christ Jesus, all the blessings of Abraham (and Israel) belong to us. So now that God has blessed you, no one can curse what God has blessed—meaning you! Hear this: No matter what you are facing today, no matter what seemingly impossible situation is staring you in the face or lurking over your shoulder, God has said you are blessed. Therefore, you can stand strong in the knowledge that no misfortune is in sight for you and no curse can touch you! You see, a major part of our blessing in God is our complete and total redemption from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13)! That curse entails every type of evil known to humankind, and God says we’re free from it all!
What’s more, as we are abiding in Him, the Word of God promises that we are actually inaccessible to all the works of darkness (Psalm 91:8). Now wouldn’t you agree that it’s pretty difficult to oppress someone when you can’t even find them? So while the entire world is singing doom and gloom, the people of God are to be rejoicing and counting their blessings.
You may be thinking, That’s easy for you to say, Dawn, but you don’t know what’s going on in my life. You’re right, I don’t know what’s going on in your life, but I know that God’s Word is truth and that when you decide to make His Word the final authority in your life—over the challenges, pressures, symptoms, and everything else that would tempt you to lose sight of your status as the blessed—then you will find true and lasting comfort and victory.
In the foregoing passage, we read that a hired gun was actually sent to curse God’s chosen people—to no avail. Every time he opened his mouth to curse them, blessings would come spouting out! He even prophesied that no misfortune or curse would come near them! That’s how swiftly and matter-of-factly God moves in the lives of His people to intercept any and every evil scheme plotted against them. The end result every time is: mis
