Introduction
Mathematics is not limited to the four basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It is not a series of assignments and worksheets. It is an inseparable part of life.
Learning of mathematics best takes place through hands-on experiences. The concept building, fun-filled projects presented in this book are divided into four categories - arithmetic, algebra, geometry and statistics.
The step by step easy projects explained in this book help to banish the fear of mathematics lurking in some remote corner of the students’ minds. The classroom tested projects of this book boosts up the self-confidence of students, increases retention of knowledge, encourages them to value mathematics as a part of life and develops proficiency in calculations. These projects include all the elements needed for a successful individual, partner or group learning experience. As an added bonus, the projects also enhance the artistic and social skills of the students.
General instructions for projects:
Read each project completely before beginning it.
Collect all the Materials Required for the particular project.
Do not skip steps. Follow every step carefully.
Note down your observations. If the results do not match with the results given in the book, read the instructions once again and redo the project from the beginning.
General precautions:
Use a sharp pencil.
Measure accurately.
In the cutting and pasting projects, be careful not to use extra glue.
In the paper folding projects, fold the paper uniformly.
