Description

This action-packed book teaches principles of survival, healing, and triumph. It focuses on individual truth and breaking free from the lies that hold us back.
Hannah is 5 ½ years old when her parents are hit head-on by a drunk driver, leaving her at the mercy of her father’s estranged cousin, Thomas. He is only after the life insurance that has been left to Hannah by her parents. He also holds another secret, the secret about a family ranch which should, by all rights, be half Hannah’s. This secret leads Thomas to resent Hannah.
Carrie Ann, Thomas’s wife, and Erik, Thomas’s son, are now expected to take care of this little girl, and they greatly resent having this responsibility thrown at them. This leads them to abuse and neglect Hannah.
Hannah is forced to learn the rules of surviving in this new environment, but as she becomes a teenager the rules change. As her body changes Erik takes notice and he takes advantage.
Through all of the terrible abuse, there have been angels placed in her path to help her survive.
Then two horrible events take place. First: the only friends she has had are kidnapped. Second, the abuse becomes more than she can handle. Hannah is pushed to the point of giving up when an old friend, Light Foot, finds her. He stays by her side through the healing process and is committed to helping her recover.
Light Foot, who is doing an internship with the Forest Service at Yellowstone National Park, doesn’t realize that helping Hannah means he is putting his own life in danger. He is forced to go on the run. Choosing to run to the trails in Yellowstone, that he is so familiar with, and praying for help, he is saved by bears.
Hannah’s story takes you through real abuse and the emotionally charged situations that come from it.
Hannah’s climb is unique in the fact that it contains real hypnotherapy sessions. Sessions that have worked with my clients. Sessions that have brought some of the most amazing outcomes.
In the end, Hannah learns to climb out of her old life and find greater heights in a beautiful new world.

Marilyn Humphreys
Our oldest son had a very traumatic experience at the age of three-and-a-half years old. As a result of this experience, my son would not leave my side. He would cling to my leg for dear life. A neighbor told my husband and myself about a hypnotherapist in Salt Lake City, named Marilyn Humphreys. She said that her daughter had taken her grandson to Marilyn and the results had been great. We decided to check her out. We scheduled an appointment with her and our results were very good.
Marilyn taught me that you cannot hypnotize children under the age of eight because their critical factor filter is not fully developed. That is why they learn so fast—they do not have a filter in place. She also taught me that the most hypnotic tool one can use is a mirror. I was taught to sit my son in front of a mirror and talk to him positively about himself, to build the character traits in him that I wanted him to possess.
Every morning and evening thereafter, I would sit my son on the bathroom counter in front of the mirror, and I would start at the top of his head. I would touch his hair and I told him how much I loved his red hair. Then I would point to his eyes and tell him how beautiful his blue eyes were. I would follow down his body and tell him how strong his muscles were growing and that he had strong legs and arms. Then I would give him a hug and tell him how much I loved him. I would follow this up with telling him what a good brother he is. I also told him he was strong, brave and courageous.
At the end of one month, doing this consistently morning and evening, he was running and playing with other children.
After this, I used the mirror with all of my children. It was an amazing tool to use and helped build them up.

June 14, 1951–May 25, 2021
It took me thirty years to decide to get certified as a hypnotherapist. When I finally moved forward, I studied under Dennis Parker who ran the Certified Hypnotherapy Training School in Utah.
His unique program was filled with understanding the spiritual aspects of how our minds, and the interpretation of events that took place in our lives, affected us spiritually. His study of both scriptures and hypnotherapy was very unique. I believe he elevated the use of hypnotherapy to help others become free from their past, both emotionally and spiritually. The goal in his course was to enable the student and their future clients to find their path to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, and to feel worthy to have a relationship with them. He loved helping others find freedom from their past. This was truly great work.
Others
My husband, Ron, elevated the writing of this book. His name should also be on the cover but he said “No, it is your story.” I want him to know how much I appreciate the effort he put into making this book possible.
Katharine Adamson devoted many hours helping me with editing suggestions.
Sharen Schaeffer, my mentor, made huge contributions, infusing this book with hope and love.
Patricia Reyes read the pages as I wrote them and asked questions. She helped me fill in so many places that needed more information. I appreciate her help.
Loni Diez and Donna Sewell helped with the beginning edits.
Debbie Park reviewed the hypnotherapy to make sure I was on track.

INTRODUCTION
Thomas’s Chance
Thomas settled into the seat of his truck, making sure that Hannah was properly buckled into the crew seat. As he started driving home from the courthouse, he felt an immense weight lift from off his shoulders. He had done it. He had made sure all of the paperwork had been thoroughly gone over by his father’s old attorney, every i dotted and every t crossed. Nothing had been left to chance.
His thoughts drifted back over the events leading up to today. It started seven months earlier. He had come home from yet another auction where he was forced to sell off more cattle to catch up on the ranch mortgage. Bills were piling up faster than a tornado and he felt like he was being sucked up. How was he going to pay off all that debt? He was determined to keep the ranch. He had told Carrie Ann that he was going to sell their place, and she and Erik would have to move with him into the ranch house. Carrie Ann had cried and told him no way would she move in there. The truth was that the ranch house needed too much work and should probably be condemned. It might have been, if it wasn’t for the fact that the ranch encompassed 672 of the most beautiful acres in Idaho. It had rolling hills, meadows, and the Rocky Mountain range for a backdrop. He did not know how he was going to keep both places. He had to have more cash flow. Carrie Ann was going to have to accept the fact that he had to have the money from the sale of their little eight-acre plot to make ends meet at the ranch. Eventually, he planned on fixing up the ranch house, but until their finances turned around it would have to wait. All of the stress was making him edgy. No, not edgy...mean.
He now thought back on that night when he had collapsed into the recliner with the newspaper. He’d started reading about a car crash where a drunk driver had hit a car head-on, killing a man and woman. He looked from the story to the picture that went with it. Thomas looked closely at the photo of the accident and thought he recognized the car. Then in a flash, he remembered seeing his cousin driving a car like that.
His cousin, Richard, had reached out to him several months earlier and asked to meet him for breakfast in town. He had not seen his cousin i
