Description

"Sexual Abuse - Child Sexual Abuse True Stories (What You Need to Know & Shocking Child Abuse Statistics!)" is more than just a book of child abuse stories. The victims of child sexual abuse are 1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 7 boys (World Health Organization). A majority of the offenders are people they know and trust like their family members. Each child has his/her own childhood sexual abuse story and it's a horror that each one have had to live through. There are 7 brief child abuse stories in this book that allows you to take a peek into their world to see what the child experienced, as well as food for thought about that particular experience. In an effort to increase awareness and keep the frequency of sexual abuse and child molestation to a minimum, this book also includes advice from experts and practical tips - some of which might have never crossed your mind, as well as a look into the plight of survivors. The child sexual abuse statistics alone are heartbreaking and unbelievable; things that are hard to fathom, and so many. You'll also find out why mothers who know about it many times do nothing about it and what that does to the child on into adulthood. If you've wondered what child sexual abuse is about - not only the stories - but its prevalence (statistics), psychological and emotional impact, things that can be done to help prevent it, and available resources on a worldwide basis including current phone numbers, support groups and websites, all of that information is contained in this book. Collectively with just a little awareness about that dark world, I feel we can make a difference in protecting the innocence of children/adolescence/teens from molestation and sexual abuse.

SOBERINGINTRODUCTION

Psalm 127:3 - "Children are aheritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him."

J ust that one scripture alone should make anyonewant to be a protection and refuge for children; certainly not sexually abusethem.

Although I'm no expert on child sexual abuse, I'vepersonally spoken to people, sadly, who are survivors of it. The ones whoperpetrate it already know who they are and the ones who've been victimized byit know who they are too. This book is an attempt to increase awareness bythose who don't realize just how much child sexual abuse is happening aroundthem. It is also encouragement for those who are on the fence about reportingit if they suspect it could be going on or if it has been brought to theirattention and they don't know what to do.

The "perpetrators" in most casesaren't strangers whom we don't know. They are the ones closest to us such asour trusted parents, our generous grandparents, our protective siblings, oursibling's friends, our closest cousins, our cool uncles, our attentiveteachers, our fun babysitters, our looked up to coaches, and our devotedreligious leaders.  Keeping that in mind, all names of the real persons havebeen changed.

Please note there are numerous resources in thisbook such as child sexual abuse "hotline" phone numbers both locallyand International, places you can write to, websites and links you may want tovisit, support, etc. If you just need to run a situation by someone or justvent, resources are within this book so that you can reach out.

The various brief "situational" child sexualabuse stories mentioned here is not what I consider as the main focus but arethere so that you can see how real this is. The greater attention should begiven to what kind of effect the experience and its outcome has on an abusedchild not only during the time that the abuse is taking place but also how iteffects the rest of their life on into adulthood.

There is a quick one or two paragraphscommentary directly after each story just to bring out certain points.

When you read about the child's experience, pleasekeep in mind that he or she had to actually live through it; thus having theirinnocence robbed. Many continue to have flashbacks and triggers although theyare adults now. The mental, emotional and sometimes physical scars remain andaffect all aspects of their lives and relationships.

You will gain an understanding of why somepeople behave in certain ways which includes but is not limited to not wantingto be touched by others, not trusting anyone, are withdrawn, can't have anormal sex life with their marriage mate, are over-protective of theirchildren, are angry, become alcoholics or drug addicts, inflict pain uponthemselves (self-harming), become child molesters themselves, have been sobadly affected that they can't lead a normal life, or contemplate committingsuicide.

It takes courage and strength to open up aboutsuch a violation and betrayal of innocence. Some wait even decades before ever speakinga word of it and some don't even talk about it until after their perpetratorhas died. Do you wonder how they would know that the perpetrator died?Unfortunately and all too commonly, it's usually someone that's least suspectedand very trusted who is close to the young victim such as his/her own familymembers.

Again, my hope is that after having a read of eachchapter, your awareness to child sexual abuse will be increased and you will bemore sensitized to what could possibly be going on right in your midst.

CHAPTER~1~ WHAT EXACTLY CONSTITUTES CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE?

I 've found that the definition for child sexualabuse has varying degrees depending on whom you ask or where you look it up.From what I've come to know, I would describe it as when an adult or anotherchild engages in any form of sexual activity (physically or non-physically, seethe list below) with a child who cannot consent to it because he/she doesn'tunderstand (could be just too young or perhaps autistic). The perpetrator usesdomination, coercion, seduction, deception, or force to achieve some type ofsexual pleasure from the child who did not want it.

The following is a list of various types ofsexual abuse done to children which falls into two groups:

(PHYSICAL CONTACT) Putting objects or body parts such as fingers, penis or tongue in the mouth, vagina, or anus of a child Inappropriate fondling or touching of a child's buttocks, breasts or genitals
