#1

Your brain is one of the most complex life forms in the known universe. It runs all your organs and regulates your temperature, and it controls your muscles and your digestive system. It keeps your heart beating, your eyes moving, and your hair growing.

#2

It can be difficult to achieve goals, and this is because taking action and moving toward them consistently even when things go wrong is difficult.

#3

Your brain has two principles that help it evolve: safety and efficiency. The brain must keep you safe and be efficient with energy, because it needs to survive and pass on its improvements to the next generation.

#4

Your life is largely on autopilot. This is called automaticity, and it's why you keep getting the same results. When you think, feel, and act the same way, your life turns out the same way.

#5

We all have the same problem when we try to change our lives: our brains are ancient and don’t understand change, and they will do everything they can to keep us in our comfort zones.

#6

You can recall times in the past when you felt confident, or perhaps you’re feeling good about yourself now. Reflect on this confidence, and you will also get clearer pictures of things you’re proud of, things you’ve accomplished.

#7

The conscious/subconscious divide explains so much of why change is difficult. You may consciously want to have more intimate relationships, but your subconscious may be protecting you from feeling rejected.

#8

Your subconscious brain is like the proverbial 800-pound gorilla in the room. It is lightning fast, and it can sense and react to a threat before your conscious brain can even get its pants on.

#9

Your brain works like an orchestra, playing together in harmony so that when you follow habits and think and act in alignment with your belief patterns and emotions, you can play some decent music. However, if you try to think or behave differently in ways that don’t make the gorilla happy, the music stops, and you introduce dissonance.

#10

The latest scientific research shows that trying harder and working longer will not help you transform your life. Instead, you need to find ways to tame your gorilla, to shift that evolutionary instinctual and emotional wiring toward transcending survival and upgrading to thriving.

#11

To break free from where you are and get to where you want to be, you must retrain your subconscious mind to be in agreement with your conscious mind and goals. This can be done by using right-brain training techniques and technologies.

#12

When you are under mental, emotional, or even financial duress, your stress response system is activated, which in turn lowers your brain’s executive function abilities. Taking six rhythmic breaths helps to deactivate your stress response system and allows you to be in a calm and proactive mind frame.

#13

We all do this to some degree. We make excuses or create stories to soothe our discomfort. The truth is there are proven, effective methods that can take you wherever you want in the world.

#14

Katrama, who was 86 when she started the program, was able to transform her beliefs and life circumstances, and she began to feel younger every day. She ended up earning over $245,000 and planning a three-week vacation to Thailand with her husband.

#15

Your subconscious brain is fast and powerful. You can't overcome the gorilla with willpower, hard work, or cleverness. To achieve your highest potential, you must align your conscious and subconscious brains.

#16

With Innercise, you can become an elite performer and train your brain, without having to spend a fortune. You can learn and practice the Innercises found in this book, as well as discover other brain-training programs by visiting www. MyNeuroGym. com.

#17

Your brain is made up of billions of neurons that are so small they can only be seen with the aid of a super-powerful microscope. These neurons communicate with each other through synapses, and brain patterns are created when they connect and communicate.

#18

The science of neuroplasticity states that the brain can change itself in response to stimuli. It is what Innercise is based on, and it is the natural ability that you’ll be using to help you reach your goals.

#19

There are three ways neuroplasticity can change your mind: neurogenesis, Hebb’s rule, and myelin, which improves the function of neurons. With the discipline of Innercise, you can turn back on some of your neuroplasticity as an adult.

#20

The brain is constantly growing and developing throughout your life. As you grow up, your neuroplasticity slows down as new memories and skills are formed. But you can help your brain develop new patterns by flipping the neuroplasticity switch.

#21

Your brain loves novelty. It is critical to its survival to be able to tell the difference between a danger and a reward, and it releases dopamine when it finds something new and interesting.

#22

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to change and adapt to the environment, and it is heavily influenced by pain and pleasure. Things that are fun and exciting or threatening and harmful are more readily encoded because they affect our survival.
