This publication provides a first overview of the energy economy in 2008 based on monthly cumulated data for each EU Member State. Production and consumption trends are outlined for the principal energy commodities – oil, natural gas, solid fuels, nuclear and primary
Main findings
EU27 gross inland consumption dropped in 2008 to a level below that of 2003
EU27 production of primary energy declined for the second consecutive year
Energy intensity continued to drop in 2008, confirming the trend of recent years
Energy dependency rose in 2008; Denmark was the only net energy exporting country
