This publication analyses the development and structure of the
European Community's trade in manufactured products with
developing countries over the period 1970 to 1984. The study
was conducted by Mr Andrew Scott of the Department of
Economics at Herlot-Watt University In Edinburgh with the
collaboration of the "Analysis and Development Division of
the Statistical Office of the European Communities". Mr
Duncan Leuchars (Faculty of Economic and Social Science,
Herlot-Watt University) provided valuable advice and assistance
on aspects of dataprocessing.
The purpose of this study Is to examine imports of manufactured
products by the European Communities from Less Developed
Countries fore period 1970-84. Particular emphasis Is given
to Imports of those products which are generally considered
